Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. Luke 22.3-5

This message is about one of the most dangerous things that can happen to your life: giving in to temptation. You cannot imagine what will happen to you if the enemy manages to fulfill what he has planned for your life. Temptation does not mean that you have sinned, but sin makes you open the door to its master, Satan, to enter your life. Whoever is under temptation is under great danger.

When Judas Iscariot – the treasurer of Jesus’ ministry – consented in accepting the request of the Jewish authorities to surrender Jesus, the devil entered him. Judas was already having a relationship with the devil. We do not know if Judas had already been with any of the authorities in Israel or if someone had told him that they were ready to reward the person who surrendered them to Christ.

However, for several times, Judas gave in to other temptations, but the one that is described in Luke 22 is one of his worst temptations. The situation was so serious that after he accepted to betray the Master, the master of the demons entered Judas. However, in other occasions, an evil spirit already tried to take away part of the money that belonged to the Lord (Jo 12.6).

Dear reader, this issue of being tempted and giving in is very serious! If you have been carried away by a desire or sinful look, or by conversations that you should never have with anyone – except for your spouse – repent while it is still time! Or else, there will be a day when the commander of Hell will enter you, personally or by any of his demons, and your soul will follow through the way of perdition.

Do not allow the evil one to make you consummate your temptation. If you have gone too far, but not yet to the point where you are seen as guilty before the Lord, make now a decision to be strong and flee from temptation! The Lord’s mercy is enduring, but if you keep “flirting” the enemy, it will eventually abandon you. It is exactly what the devil is waiting for. Therefore, flee while it is still time!

The best way to be freed from proposals from hell is to turn to the Lord in prayer and tell Him everything that is going on. At the same moment that you tell the Father how you are being tempted, He will make you understand what to do. Then, in the same prayer, besides only asking and receiving forgiveness, decide to break the chains that bind you to sin. Do it before the enemy becomes the lord of your life.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
