Then he called his twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.  Luke 9: 1

The choice of a disciple transcends everything that man has seen.  Before we were born, the Lord already knew us and gifted us with the capacity to serve Him.  The calling precedes the command to execute His will.  So, when we are called we should say yes and endeavor to fulfill the order from Heaven.  God would never send us to battle without preparation and coverage of his power.

For our salvation, the Lord used human bonds, compassion and mercy removing the yoke from our jowl.  Since we didn’t have the necessary force, He gave us the resources that enable us to carry out His purposes. (Hosea 11:4)  Then, feeling the call and at His feet we are taught properly.  We need not hurry, for when the lessons are complete, He will lead us to battle fields.

The twelve already were disciples; surely they had participated in many meetings that the Master held in several places and probably had learned to cast out demons and heal the sick. It doesn’t matter how long someone takes learning about the Kingdom; if they learned the teachings, the Lord will entrust them with a special task.

Therefore, already prepared to carry out what had been appointed them, the disciples were sent to announce the Gospel.  Nevertheless, to proceed as Jesus did, they received authority and power over all demons.  Thus they could undo any work of the enemy and free the oppressed.

This is what the Son of God did when He invited people to enter the Kingdom of God.  Well, is this what has been done world-wide?  Jesus said he gave us the example so that as He did, we would also do.  The only way to deliver the Good Word is to follow the good example the Master left us.

Those disciples could undo any evil that afflicted those who sought them, and so demonstrate the true doctrine of goodness.  The Gospel is the only means of undoing infernal oppressions, for God’s justice is revealed by faith in it.  Preaching must be done with infallible proof.

They were given the power to heal the sick; therefore they could interfere in the process of illnesses, canceling out the evil that made people suffer because of mutilations or other movements that were impossible to be done.  This authority was given them to work miracles, prodigies and wonders in the name of Jesus.
