Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is distressed.  Psalm 143.4

David acknowledged that his soul was being pursued by the enemy. When a saved person thinks that bad things that happen to him are normal, he is unknowingly giving a chance for the enemy to act. Brethren, the Word of God warns us that the devil is real—he came to steal, and to kill, and to destroy (John 10.10). Even bad advice comes from the evil one. Even a casual talk that is not in line with the Word may be contaminated by Satan’s cleverness.

 

All negative, lustful and evil feelings come from the devil. He strives to defeat us, tempting us and, when we give into temptation, he prevails. When this happens, the person does not keep standing. We need to remain watchful, bearing in mind everything that is recorded in the Scriptures, and not accepting anything that contradicts the Scriptures. Satan will strive to bring us to his territory, where we will get lost in his maze and will be defeated by him.

 

Without a doubt, where there is depression—lack of courage to react against any abnormalities—we can say that a major and evil force is in control. There is only one remedy: to cast out the evil spirit by using the Word of God. Those who act in this manner will find out that this was exactly what they were lacking. Many times a person is dominated by the accuser for years until someone who has a strong faith cries out for his delivery.

Those who are under evil oppression are without light; therefore they are separated from God. Sometimes, when this person is a friend of ours, or a family member, we are hesitant in speaking the truth. Consequently, the person ends up suffering for a very long time. We know that anything that steals, kills or destroys comes from Satan, who has to be cast out in the name of Jesus. Rest assured that, in Christ, you will be delivered.

The best thing is to dwell in the Most High, because in God’s presence there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16.11). It is not difficult to attain that; all you need to do is believe in the Word of God, get rid of sin and everything that does not please our Father. Those who are fooled by the enemy’s lies, without a doubt, are possessed by him. In order to deliver these people, it is not necessary to be kind or to show that you are a friend. What delivers man from involvement with the devil is the prayer of faith.

In face of oppression, the human spirit becomes discouraged, overwhelmed with pain and defeat. We must not hesitate when someone asks us for help. We have to stand firm, confident in God’s promises and go into battle as if we are waging a war—actually, that is the right term. Jesus gave us his name so that we will overcome all battles and, with faith, come out victorious.

The result of evil’s attack is that those who are oppressed see everything from a negative point of view, without any prospects for improvement. We have the key to the kingdom of heaven, which will bring freedom to all: it comprehends the Word of God, the Holy Spirit and the name of Jesus. Do not be afraid, brethren! Act with faith, and you will deliver those who are enslaved by Satan.
