To You I will cry, O Lord my Rock: do not be silent to me, lest, if You are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. Psalm 28.1

David begins this Psalm by telling the Lord that he would cry to Him. In fact, the king was answering an invitation of the Most High so that He would cry to Him. This invitation is available for all, and even better: God answers those who open up their hearts and seek Him (Jr 29.12,13). For these people, the Father will announce great and firm things that they do not know yet (Jr 33.3). This is what the saved person needs, or else he will look like those who descend to the grave.

Our clamor must be made only to the Lord (1 Tm 2.5). Whoever cries out to someone who served the Lord on his days here on Earth disobeys Jesus’ orientation, for in the prayer known as the Lord’s Prayer, He taught us how to pray to God (Mt 6.9-13). If the prayer is not addressed to Him, it does not go to His presence, and even worse: it reaches the ears of the enemy, who originated it, and also might answer in his own way.

David made God his Rock, and he built his life in Him. Be careful with the stories of people who are considered holy, and that can answer you. We are all the same and we cannot address our petitions to no living or dead creature. While I am here you may ask me for prayer, but once I live, I will not be able to receive your requests, for the dead do not know about anything (Ec 9.5).

Ask the Lord to always speak to you, for if He becomes mute, there will be nothing left for you. Man needs God to reveal him about everything, especially about what belongs to him in the faith in Jesus. Those who are always connected to the Most High are remembered about the opportunities He gives and the plans of the evil to attack him. Thus, he can be wise in the Scriptures and escape from evil.

It is very sad when God does not speak anymore with someone. This person’s life ends, for the devil is walking about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, and will be able to destroy this life (1 Pe 5.8). Now, in the moment in which the Lord speaks, our soul is strengthened and leads us to live in the faith. When we hear the voice of the Omnipotent, our strength rises, and thus, we can assume what belongs to us in Jesus.

David understood that he would become similar to those who descend to the grave if God would be silent concerning him. Now, there is no hope for the lost, for they will be always set apart from the Lord in an eternal suffering. Therefore, if you do not want to be similar to them, ask for divine orientation as you meditate in the Scriptures and hear the preaching of the Word. Then, depending on your choice, you will be similar to those who are victorious in the faith or to the losers.

Maybe you have never thought about who do you look like or would like to look like in the faith. Reflect about this and tell the Lord, for He will make you victorious as He did with the heroes of faith (Hb 11). However, whenever God speaks to you, seek immediately to accomplish the mission He gave you. After all, what will be of you if you despise the Most High’s favor?

In Christ, with love,

Merciful God! We want to cry out to You so that we may understand Your will, for all those who suffer, and for those who do not know what to do anymore. However, what is most important is that You might not be silent towards us, and do not take Your eyes from us.

You are our Rock, and we are built in You. Our greatest need is to hear what you have to tell us. We need to receive Your direction, so that we might not be in the hands of luck, or stumbling in the obstacles that the enemy puts in our way.

Oh Father! Do not be silent about us. Defend us from the enemy, for in every moment, he seeks to drive us away from Your presence. With Your help, we will be similar to You, beloved God and our Lord, and not similar to those who descend to the grave.
