So he said to his daughters, “And where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.” Exodus 2:20

The path for someone called to do divine work may have many surprises.  There is the possibility of getting exalted and doing things wrong, and by so doing having to move elsewhere and starting a new life.  But in the end, one will see the guiding hand of the Omniscient God.  The truth is that God does not tempt us but He allows the enemy to do so as much and as far as we can withstand.  However, truly, He always gives us an escape. (Matthew 4:1, 1 Corinthians 10:13)

When Pharaoh discovered what Moses had done he became furious and was determined to kill him.  He who was found and retrieved from the waters as a baby by divine strategy, ran away fleeing to the Median desert and camped near a well.  That water source gave him what he needed; an opportunity to start a new life.  It makes no difference what might have happened to you; stay on the lookout for what God will show you and stay close to it because the divine escape will show up and you dare not miss it.

Reuel’s daughters knew they were guarded by the Lord when they were protected that day.  They drew water from the well for their father’s cattle to drink from the trough.  Moses attention was focused on the women and certainly they were watching him.  In their daily chores they did not expect anything different or unusual to happen but some shepherds arrived and drove the women away.  Moses seeing their evil behavior rose up to defend the daughters and watered the herd.

God knows why certain things happen to us and will reward us if we do right to others. The crucial importance is that we do not ignore the moment that He speaks to our heart, moving us through inspiration to do what is right.  What happened at the well is a symbol of what happens in our present days, for when we are taught by the Holy Spirit we are taught by the Lord, Omniscient.  To ignore or refuse His directions is to forego or to lose the golden opportunities He offers us.

When Reuel’s daughters told their father what had happened he soon asked about the man.  We can’t neglect the heroes God sends us, because they are answers to our prayers for solutions to our problems for our own good.  The Median shepherd was excited when he realized that God had heard and answered his prayers.  It is not good or wise to lose sight of the persons He sent; after all there is a shortage of good people in the midst of this corrupt and egotistical humanity.

“Why did you leave that man?” the father questioned his daughters. Never neglect those that love righteousness and practice good.  This way, you will see that no one being from God can do us well and then do us harm.  We must watch out not to fall into the traps of the devil.  By the report, Reuel felt that he was sent by the Lord and the succeeding events and facts proved that he was right.  The good man had to be found!

That stranger had to eat bread with them to show if he had been sent by the Lord or not.  This detail is significant.  If one does not eat of the bread – the Word given to us by God – then he was not sent by God.  Have you fed on the Scriptures?  Have you practiced doing good like one should? Are you His servant?  What do you say?

In Christ, with Love,

Lord!  You protected Moses from death at his birth by the midwives who granted and obeyed his father’s and mother’s wish. Later, You protected Moses in the waters of the Nile River, so that he would be adopted by the Pharaoh’s daughter and receive a special upbringing under the best education and schooling in Egypt.

When the time was ripe he showed Whom he trusted, refusing to be called the son of the Pharaoh’s daughter.  When he defended a Hebrew slave from a soldier’s aggression he took refuge in the Median desert next to a well.  We can take shelter next to the Life Spring. Halleluiah!

He who was retrieved from the waters did not let You down and carried out the great mission of delivering Your people from bondage.  Being placed next the True fountain was the best things that could have happened to us.  Use us, Lord!
