Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon God?

Psalm 53.4

The message of the gospel, when announced by those who were sent by the Lord, has the power to convert all those who are lost. It also makes the worst sinners to repent and start living in the presence of God. As a result, their lives of error are transformed and, in holiness, they become servants of the Lord.

The first days of a newly-converted Christian are beautiful, because he is as pure are a newborn. But, over time, many of them fail to watch and are fooled by the devil and fall into his trap once again. The same way as Satan tempted Jesus in every way, he tempts those who are of God. So, when someone stops fearing the Lord but continues attending church and doing God’s work, he becomes a worker of iniquity.

This has happened since the beginning of Christianity. Those who practice iniquity have nothing to do with God; they are interested in other things, but not in obeying the Lord of the harvest. They are like spots staining the holiest work in the world. One day they will say to the Lord that they prophesied, cast out demons, and healed the sick in his name, but they will receive this answer: I never knew you (Mt 7.23).

The workers of iniquity see the people of God as property or mass of maneuver. How can anyone abuse the trust that is put in him? To practice deceit in the name of the Lord is truly repulsive, and that is why these workers will be severely judged. If they did not consider us sent by the Lord, people would never confide their secrets in us or trust in what we say.

If you know anyone who acts as a worker of iniquity, stay away from him, and do not believe his claims that God reveals things to him. Because this person does not serve the Lord, the devil will use his life in the worst possible manner. And, in this case, you will be the one to bear the consequences and suffer the damage. The Bible says that he whom God has sent speaks the words of God (John 3.34) and that those who do not speak according to the Scriptures will never see the break of the day, because there is no light in them (Isaiah 8.20). Surely, unlit charcoal briquettes are useless.

On the other hand, people who really serve the Lord are meek, humble and dedicated to God’s works; what interests them is to spread the good news among those who are lost, heal the sick, encourage those who have fallen and transmit the peace of God that exceeds all understanding. Pray for these true workers, so that they may do much more for the kingdom of heaven.

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares
