Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for by faith you stand. 2 Corinthians 1.24

God created man and made him sovereign over all creation. When man he sinned, he was separated from the Lord and subdued by the enemy, to whom he voluntarily started serving. Therefore, he became submitted to the devil. This lasted until Jesus’ coming, when we were redeemed and our loss was reclaimed.

The work done by the Savior in Calvary was not to mend something old, but to recreate our lives. After the Fall, we lost our authority, dignity, and sovereignty. Through redemption, we have been born again and we are no longer servants of sin. This is not a simple declaration, but the truth about our new position. We do not need to look to the Lord with our heads down, as unworthy ones, nor do we need to look to the enemy as our superior.

The Holy Scriptures affirm that right now, you are standing. In other words, man can return to the position that he was in before the malign act of Adam in Eden. We have been justified – made innocent – through Christ, and therefore, there is no more condemnation for the human being, unless he does not accept what was done in his favor. The expression “you stand”, used by the Holy Spirit, guarantees us that nothing more can separate us from the love of God that is in Jesus.

The faith that the Lord gives is intangible, but it belongs to you. Therefore, if you believe in the work of Jesus in the cross, you shouldn’t be subject any longer to the enemy’s lies. Through His death, Jesus took our pains, infirmities, iniquities, transgressions and the punishment that brings us peace (Is 53). Now, we are completely delivered from oppression. 

Nobody can have dominion over your faith, for you stand by faith. Not even Satan is able to make you suffer or hinder you from receiving not even one blessing that the Scriptures declare that belongs to you. Therefore, remember: Christ has made you stand, as sovereign, in everything that concerns your life. All the condemnations that weighed upon you exist no more, so you can reign in this life.

There is no way for someone to become your lord, or the lord of your belongings. Do not let anyone – not even your leaders – tell you what to do. They can, at the most, help you, but not make decisions in your place. Paul said that we are cooperators of the happiness of the saved. You are not a puppet; you are an individual with full rights in Christ. Therefore, prepare yourself to be victorious.

Just like the heroes of Faith described in Hebrews 11, you must also obtain victory. By faith, conquer kingdoms, practice justice, reach promises, close the mouth of lions, put out the force of fire, escape from the sword, be strong in battle, and make the foreign armies flee. At last, do everything that the Lord orders you through His Word.
