I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy, for You have considered my trouble; You have known my soul in adversities, and have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a wide place.

Psalm 31:7-8

The key words in this statement mean that, after all, the Lord puts us in a wide place. Because God’s kind hope is the same for all people, no one should be discouraged when under temptation. Ordeals can come with all the cunning of the enemy, but those who look toward the promises of the Most High should pray because the cloud of evil will dissipate. The devil cannot stand the divine presence.

The psalmist declares that the Almighty considered his affliction. God saw what the evil one did in his life. Nobody is to blame for the temptation that comes upon them, but in order to get rid of it they just need to ask for the Lord’s help. He will provide you with the right word and show you a way of escape. The assistance of the Holy Spirit is very important in times of weakness. By following His direction, whatever is afflicting us will be undone.

It is important that God knows your soul in your adversities. If you do not accept evil, He will provide the help you need. However, if you enjoy the offers of the devil, almost nothing can be done. Your attitude in the face of an ordeal is what counts. When someone sins, they lose touch with God and as a result their soul lacks the joy of salvation and, at the same time, it is stricken by the angst that leads to depression.

From what David wrote, it is clear that the decision of our soul to refuse the offers of sin is what counts. If he were relishing wrongful thoughts and living in his soul what the temptations were insinuating, the Lord would have seen his attitude and would not have spared his life at the hands of the tormentors. So whenever you are being swept by the winds of error, do not harbor them not even in the innermost recesses of your mind.

That is why David’s ability to stand firm on the truth was placed where there was enough space so that he would not make unwise decisions. God will always do that to those who keep His words in their mouth. One’s stance before temptations will determine whether or not God will deliver them from evil. Jesus’ advice is for you to watch and pray in order not to fall into the snares of the tempter (Matthew 26:41).

If you do not surrender to temptation, the Lord will see it and so He will not deliver you into the hands of the enemy. Your decision of not accepting the offers of the devil causes the Father to keep you safe from the onslaughts of the evil one. Then God will put you in a wide place where all your decisions will find space to be fulfilled.

It doesn’t matter whom you have been so far but rather what you do with God’s revelations. They are like open doors for you to enter into the divine presence and solve your problems once and for all. Do it now!

In Christ with Love,
