Many people believe that Christmas is the official date of Christ’s birth. Actually, the Bible does not indicate the exact day the Lord Jesus was born. Discussions aside, the bottom line is that the greatest gift has already been given to us: Christ.
The writer Max Lucado describes this gift very clearly: “If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent an educator. If our greatest need had been technology, He would have sent us a scientist. If our greatest need had been money, He would have sent us an economist. But since our greatest need was forgiveness, God sent us a Savior.”
The most important thing at Christmas is not the gifts, the supper or the decoration. Regardless of date, the best gift we’ve received is Jesus, who paid our debt on the cross.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
