04/06/2019 - DURING CRISIS, THE GOOD GUY DISAPPEARS

Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt?  Exodus 14:11

When the Hebrews left Egypt, they were more than three million people. That was more than a perfect work! Although Pharaoh was evil and vindictive, the Lord knew how to make him free His children, without any of them dying. The plagues cast by Moses broke the king’s reserves. If he had allowed his slaves to leave when the first plague arose, he would have killed them then immediately afterwards. 

Everything was going well, until the Hebrews heard that Pharaoh was going after them with his army, and that meant destruction. So they despaired and began to murmur. Why do this, if the Lord assures us that no evil will befall us and no plague will come near our dwelling (Psalm 91:10)? When they gave ear to Pharaoh, they were filled with fear and stopped being the good guys.

Remain steadfast in the Word of God. Thus, you will despise the enemy. With great fear, the Hebrews spoke things that displeased the Lord, and forgot that He is able to do what is necessary to deliver His people. Do not open your mouth in times of crisis, because you might end up offending the Almighty. Turn to Him in prayer.

When speaking without the divine anointing, you dig your own grave. The people of God remembered that they had asked Moses, still in Egypt, to let them serve the Egyptians, for they preferred to bow to the adversary than die in the desert. That was a display of weakness! Now, could not the Lord overcome the wicked Pharaoh? Did they not learn that God is perfect?

Man is the same everywhere and speaks the same words every time. Therefore, we do not have to pay attention to him, but only to the Creator. The Lord had promised that He would deliver His people from slavery and would take them to the land promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The Hebrews should have trusted in the One who never failed and always kept His promises. Their attitude was not good.

The Most High hardened Pharaoh’s wicked heart, that he and other Egyptians might persecute the people of God, because He wanted to terminate them. Since they did not understand, the Hebrews feared and once again spoke offensive words against Moses, remembering him that, in Egypt, unlike the desert, there were graves for thems to be buried. They had crossed the line!

The servant of the Lord prayed to Him and heard from Him that he should give a positive message to the people and force them to walk towards the sea. And when he had struck the waters, a strong wind came from east to west, and the waters began to open.
