It is good to remember that Jacob’s children were being taken to a physical land, that´s why the work of destruction they were to do would be physical and would have to be complete. They could not prevaricate – make an agreement with the enemy -, failing to obey God´s command. Saul prevaricated in the case of Agag and the cows. Now, according to him, the people thought it to be good to stay with the cows, thus, committing his great mistake. The act of rebellion is considered a work of witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23).
Today, we are taken to a spiritual land, that of the divine promises, so we do not have to go personally or have someone put an end to the devil’s places of worship – whether in mountains, hills or under trees – but use the power that was given to us in Christ, giving a simple and effective command, in the Name of Jesus.
Those places would be traps to God’s people if they were not annihilated. In times of weakness, many Israelites would seek them and then offend the Most High, who was giving them territory free of opponents. However, many failed to understand this and indulged themselves in all kinds of spiritual, mental and sexual impurity, living with those who had to be eradicated.
It is important to stress that the destruction we are to carry out today is in the spiritual realm and in the presence of God. Thus, we will not shout nor repeat the order continuously. Firmly, we will order, in the Name of Jesus, that the operations of Hell cease to exist in our land – property, family, ministry, work and wherever the Lord places us. Follow only the instructions of the Word!
From the very beginning of my life with Christ, which began very early, when I was six years old, I reflected upon the rebukes in the books of Kings and Chronicles. When it was said that a king had done the will of God, but had not removed the high places, and the people continued to burn incense, it bothered me. Certainly, it was the Lord showing me that they had stopped fulfilling what they were commanded.
I would say, “Lord, why such a rebuke, if he did everything right?” But now I understand! In verse 3 of Deuteronomy 12, the command was expanded: they were to destroy the altars, break the pillars, burn the wooden images, and destroy the names of the gods from that place. The Christian must understand the authority given to him in Christ. If you want to do the divine will, you will surely succeed.
The Almighty knows how evil it is to worship any other being. But the one that is addressed to Him is beneficial to us, because it is not just to exalt Him, but to strengthen us, like the babies when they feed on their mother’s womb.
In Christ, with love,

God, our good Teacher! Everything You tell us to do has a purpose. So we have to be careful when carrying it out. Your work must be done under Your guidance. The glory is all Yours!
The remembrance of evil practices in Canaan would be a snare for those with a weak mind and faith. In times of trouble, they would seek the wrong sources and be possessed and destroyed by evil. Your advice is welcome!
Guided by You, we will not let the demons deceive our brothers. With Your Word, we will free the oppressed, leading them to the new birth. Thus, people will recognize You and obey You. Amen!
