King Asa’s lack of spiritual sensitivity, when he was drifted away by what he had achieved by believing in God, caused him to fall into the hands of Zerah, the Ethiopian king. When realizing there was no way to overcome twice as many soldiers this monarch possessed, Asa turned back to the One whom he should have never forsaken and confessed he needed help. Since the Lord is longsuffering and merciful, Asa was answered. This teaches us to never forget the power which is available to us.
Asa’s secret was to humble himself before the Almighty and turn back to Him. When you realize your mistakes, this must be done by anyone who loves the Lord. Now, if there is any chance that the enemy will win the battle, will we abandon the Fountain of Living Waters and dig broken cisterns (Jeremiah 2:13). Why live far from God, inflame our carnal understanding and give the devil conditions to strike and overcome us?
It´s good to examine and see what you´ve done in the faith. Have you been sloppy and left the door open for the enemy to enter? If you have allowed the flesh to dominate you, repent. There is no curse without cause, so it is wise to seek in God the reason for your misfortunes. The Most High declares: My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, (Proverbs 27:11).
It was a matter of acknowledging and humbling. This way, Asa would soon receive the answer. His prayer showed that he really had come to his senses, and what happened next proves that he reached the heart of the Most High. Whoever is of the Lord must strive to live the faith in Christ as Jesus lived it in the Father. Today, our affairs are with Christ; we must deal with Him. Therefore, go to Him and solve your problems!
The answer was simple: when Asa made the right prayer, God took action and wounded those men who invested against his people. If you belong to the Lord, He is sad to see the enemy destroying you. For the heavenly Father to give you deliverance, you just have to humble yourself, pray, seek His Face and to turn away from your wicked ways, so that the times of refreshment of divine presence may come upon your life (2 Chronicles 7:14). Why not do this now?
Poor Ethiopians! They went against the inheritance of the Lord because the Israelites made the wrong decision. But as soon as they straightened up and cried out, the Most High went into battle in their favor, and the outcome was their adversaries defeat. The Father will act in your favor this way too, if you repent of what has dominated your heart and turn back to the Almighty. You will certainly be helped once you do that.
The story of Asa´s battle against Zerah could have been written differently had the Ethiopian king emerged victorious. What a horrible record in the history of God’s people that would be! But because Asa repented, confessed his sin and asked for help, the end glorified the Lord, giving victory to Jacob´s sons. What will be written about you? God is Faithful!
In Christ, with love,

Merciful Warrior! How many battles have we lost for thinking we can overcome the enemies without Your help! Assist us in the battle against the wicked realm, which tries to destroy us.
We have forsaken You, we no longer seek You as before, we have not believed in You as we should and we suffer bitterly. Look unto us and give us Your protection, that we may live quietly under the shadow of Your wings.
Place us steadily in Your Word lest we be instruments of the kingdom of darkness, for we are Your agents in the world. We cry out to You for deliverance: Most High, come help us! Amen!
