When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.   Matthew 3:16

Adam and Eve´s sin caused the eternal separation between the Lord and men, and this, according to Scriptures, is called spiritual death. The first couple did not believe the divine warning and ate the fruit of the tree of good and evil (Genesis 3: 6). Soon after they sinned, they realized that it was impossible to stand before the Creator because once He is the holy, consuming fire, they would be destroyed (v. 7,8). However, God’s love prevailed, and a plan was created.

The work of redemption was long but complete. The Most High prepared all things in a holy and perfect way. His goal was to make man His companion, but since the creature preferred to believe the devil’s lie, it all “went downhill.” God then worked for the salvation of the first couple´s descendents. Halleluiah!

During the time of separation between God and men, few people enjoyed divine help. They opened their heart to the Omnipotent, offering themselves as instruments in His hands. Whoever believed in Him was delivered from the kingdom of darkness and reached the divine promises. The remission of sin was done step by step in the smallest detail, and in the end it occurred as the Most High had planned. God is good!

The Law of Moses allowed faithful servants to enjoy divine favor. The prophets were able to lead the people to fear the Lord, and so there was heavenly operation in the lives of those who were taught by the Spirit of God. The Psalms not only comforted the afflicted, but also made people learn to fear the Creator.

When Christ was baptized and came out of the water, fulfilling all divine justice, the heavens opened to men, and there is no record that they ever closed again. Through the Son of God, a believer becomes an agent of heaven, receiving the forgiveness of sins and the anointing from on High. In addition, he begins to act like Jesus in His days on Earth. Through the work of the Savior, it is possible to walk with the heavenly Father again. Glory to God!

Today, problems melt at the Message of Christ, for with it divine power delivers the afflicted. The message to be announced by us must be the strongest and most appropriate for those lost to be saved, the sick to be healed, and the oppressed to be set free from evil traps. The Gospel is, in fact, God’s power at work for those who believe in Him (Romans 1:16).

During the preaching of the Word, we stand before the Lord, and He does His good will in the lives of His servants, leading them to live according to His will. The evil done by the evil in a person’s life is undone in the Name of Jesus, as long as he uses his faith upon hearing the Word (Romans 10:17).
