The Bible tells the story of King Josiah who, unfortunately, did not have a glorious demise. In his teens, Josiah set out to seek the Lord and taught people to fear God’s Word. The persistence in doing what was right brought a renewal to the people of Judah.
One day God urged the Egyptian Pharaoh Necho to meet his army to fight at Carchemish (II Chronicles 35:20). When that king passed through the region of Palestine, King Josiah decided to confront him. Necho, following God’s guidance, told the king not to deter him. Josiah did not listen and was wounded by an arrow, which caused his death.
Note that this is a lesson for us. Success is not all the Lord has for us. God could have used King Josiah even more. Always listen to the Lord, be sensitive to His voice.
