But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. Genesis 45:5

The Bible defines God as love (1 John 4:16), the Being void of evil sentiments, benign and of good character.  As you seek divine help, remember: you are approaching the One who only has good things to give.  Therefore, those who are called servants of the Lord must act like Him.  We show whom we serve in adversities, in ungratefulness and often in the violence that is suffered.  What do you say about this?

The story of Joseph of Egypt is very sad.  Envy made his brothers almost kill him, when they threw him into a well.  Then they sold him to a caravan of Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt and sold him as a slave.  What had Joseph done to be treated this way?  Why was he removed from living with his father, the Hebrew patriarch, ancestor to the Savior?  We don’t understand many things now, but we will understand some day!

After having been purchased by Potiphar, Joseph, who had God’s anointment over himself, understood and accepted everything as part of the divine plan for his life.  Had he been feeble in faith, he would have fled from his master and returned to his home on horseback or on foot, and in a few days would be in his father’s home.  Later on, being harassed by the wife of his superior, he could have easily become her lover, and enjoy an easy life.  But as a servant of the Most High he was faithful to the end!

Having been falsely accused of seducing her, Joseph had his life spared but was thrown into jail and remained there for two years. Once again, the anointment that he possessed proved that God was with him.  But how hard it can be to not grow bitter or rebellious with the Lord’s method of preparing us?  The truth is that Joseph was released from jail because he used his gifts and became prime minister of the most powerful nation in the world in those days.  In their wisdom, his brothers went to Egypt to purchase food.

Now that he was the greatest authority in that nation, Joseph could have revealed the evil caused by the adulterous wife of Potiphar or practiced justice by his own hands. However, he knew that all that was happening was part of his preparation and training.  Now, if the Lord is conducting your journey don’t try to understand during the course.  Joseph knew how to be a faithful servant of God up to the end.  Glory be to God!

The day arrived when Joseph, without humiliating his brothers, revealed himself to them. The brothers were embarrassed and confounded with that discovery and did not know how to proceed, but Joseph raised their spirits saying that all that happened was part of the divine plan to keep them alive. What a lesson! The Lord’s servants have to conduct themselves in this manner in our present time, for they follow the One who is love.

The heavenly Father is sending us to meet and face many people.  Therefore, we can’t allow anything that is bad to grieve us.  After all, He knows how to prepare us for greater works.  Cooperate with the purpose of the Lord for you, knowing how to serve Him.  God expects more from you!

In Christ, with Love,

Lord, perfect and eternal Love! When and from where we least expect things, often times surprising attitudes even frightening ones, like the brothers of Joseph, sons to Jacob happen.  They sold their brother to the Ishmaelites as slave.  Mercy!

Joseph talked about what he felt or had received from You, and for this his brothers envied him.  Many envy us also, and some cause us harm. It is painful to know that these continue in the same way, walking towards final judgment.  Pity!

Give us the same feeling there exists in Christ, to walk with our heads high, knowing that in Your plan, some sad and painful things will happen to us, but You will never abandon us.  That we may know how to be worthy and valorous servants!
