And they found Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fought against him; and they defeated the Canaanites and the Perizzites. Judges 1:5

God’s people practice justice, for they serve the Lord, who is just and reproves the wickedness of people toward their neighbor. When conquering the Holy Land, the Israelites were ordered to completely annihilate the people who lived there. For centuries, they committed the worst and such indescribable aberrations, setting children on fire and throwing them as offerings to metal idols, called gods (Deuteronomy 18:9-14).

The devil hates little children, especially boys. Proof of this was what happened, about 3,500 years ago, when the pharaoh of the time decreed that every child born at that time was to be killed by the midwives (Exodus 1:15,16). In those days, when a special Hebrew was born, his parents hid him for some time. But as he grew and made noise, as babies do, his sister put him in the Nile River, where a princess was bathing. The princess, who was the daughter of Pharaoh, found him and adopted him, naming him Moses – “out of the water” (Exodus 2:1-10).

In addition to this occasion, in the days before the birth of Jesus, King Herod issued a decree that every child two years old and under was to be put to death. He did this because he had been deceived by the Magi who had come from the East to worship the newborn King (Matthew 2:16-18). The revelation they received did not tell them the exact place where the Messiah was, so they went everywhere looking for the Savior. Herod was amazed at the news and asked them to let him know when they discovered the whereabouts of the child, so that he could also worship Him. But they didn’t come back!

In our days there is a theory called gender ideology, which seeks to confuse people by suggesting that a boy can be a girl, or vice versa. This is such a lie that some parents believe and start teaching their children. Who is behind this? Without a doubt, the devil. In our country, even in many schools, this aberration has started to be taught as a normal thing.

The king of the people living in the territory conquered by Judah was possessed by an evil spirit, which urged him to cut off the big toes and thumbs of the monarchs he defeated in the battles. Faced with this difficulty, these men could neither handle a weapon nor run well. Moreover, they lived in his palace, eating from the crumbs that fell on the floor under his table. The wickedness of this man was known to the world, and Judah found him in Bezek, where he was fighting against the Canaanites.

The name of this foolish king was Adoni-Bezek. He fled, but the men of Judah went after him, arrested him, cut off his thumbs from his hands and feet, and brought him alive to Jerusalem. The kind of justice he received was the same justice he practiced in the lives of those he defeated. Adoni-Bezek recognized that God repaid the wickedness he had done to 70 defeated kings. Today, God’s justice is done in the spiritual world, through the prayer of faith.

As soon as they found Adoni-Bezek, they fought against him. Probably the fierceness of God’s anger drove them to overcome the Canaanites and Perizzites, as well as to pursue this unscrupulous and evil man. This serves as a warning to the person who acts wickedly towards those he thinks are a danger to his insatiable hunger for possessions and fame.

In Christ, with love,

Holy and loving God! We cannot judge Your actions, for just the fact that King Adoni-Bezek mutilated the kings he defeated was enough for You to give that land to the Israelites. Of course, there were other just reasons, too!

Even today, You look upon those persecuted because of the injustice of men who, out of hunger for power, make laws to undermine Your work. We pray on behalf of those who think they have the power to persecute Your servants, who only do good to all!

While there is violence on Earth, You will not let the devil's followers prevail against the fate of the helpless. We ask for mercy from those who do not know You, for if they knew You, they would never do such evil things!
