Asa was doing very well. The country had peace and prosperity, and all people lived joyfully with his reign. He himself declared that the Lord had given them those ten years of peace and abundance. But he did not watch, and the negative thought, of unbelief, took hold of his heart. He looked like a prophet, and perhaps he considered himself a prophet, because, out of nowhere, her urged the people to prepare for war. Why do we do similar things?
The king did not even think about the proposal he made. Actually, he was telling the Lord not to protect them anymore because they already had enough money to create barriers around their territory. What stupidity! If God had kept them safe up to that moment, couldn´t He continue to do that? Did that idea of equipping themselves for the battle come from the Most High? Of course not! Well, a lot of people hire security guards, and when the robberies come, they think they did the right thing.
According to Asa, he should use the resources to build walls, towers, doors, and locks. However, if they had prayed, God would have revealed the events to them, which would be lethal weapons from Hell. Because he had created an army of 580,000 men from Judah and Benjamin, the king must have been praised by those who did not walk with the Lord, and therefore they thought to be right to take such precautions.
The Wall of Fire that protected them was disappointed. God feels the same about people who become conceited and begin to “take care” of themselves. They fail to invest in the means granted by Him in the work of evangelization, but buy houses, boats and airplanes. Then, in their ostentation, they feel unprotected and hire security guards to protect them. Asa did not suspect that his plan was evil, and soon he would see war breaking out on his terms.
Then from the uttermost part of the world Zerah the Ethiopian arose up against them. When Asa abandoned his covenant with the Lord, the devil provided this man from Ethiopia, who, with an army of 1 million men and 300 chariots, took possession of the territory of the people of God and came to Mareshah. The king came to his senses and realized that there were two Ethiopian soldiers to fight each of his own. So he decided to appeal to the Lord.
None of that would have happened if Asa had kept his covenant with the Most High. Think clearly of your actions as well as in the words spoken without praying to the Father and seeking His will. Unless the Lord guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain (Psalms 127: 1), even if the person creates an army or builds walls! Of God is war, and it is good when He battles it by Himself, as it happened years later with Jehoshaphat. There is still time to go back.
If you are facing problems and although you are praying, the solution does not come, see where you have fallen and reconcile yourself with God. Outside the Covenant, you will suffer many losses. Whoever serves the Lord does not serve himself, but is served by Him Who girded Himself with a towel and washed the disciples’ feet. Let Him cleanse you from what hinders you from having any part with Him.
In Christ with love,

Our Protector! Sometimes we act like Asa, who did not remember how he had received the kingdom, what he had felt in his heart, and how he sought You until He saw You act in Judah. When He obeyed, He saw Your help!
When all was at peace - ten years without wars and people seeing Your hand operating without any limits -, this king did not stay alert and allowed fear to invade his heart. Therefore, he behaved as the men of the world do. Mercy!
Now, in Your Throne, we place our life in the Covenant made in the blood of Jesus, because we do not want to bow before the lies of the devil, but remain steadfast in the faith until the end. Forgive us and vivify us, for we must go back to serve and love You!
