For My Angel will go before you and bring you in to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will cut them off. Exodus 23.23

This word was given to the sons of Israel when the Lord declared to them that an angel would take them to their enemies.  No matter where God sends you; He never will send you to where you will be defeated.  The Omnipotent is not like man, who has a second plan to be used if something goes wrong.  With the Lord, everything happens according to plan.  So do what God instructs you to do and go where He sends you. 

The Most High had already warned the Israelites that they should diligently hear the voice of the Messenger of God and that they would be doubly blessed: with the victory and reward that follows every act of obedience that is practiced.  The people that lived in Canaan always gave in to sins of the flesh and to worship of false gods.  God had struggled for centuries to draw them out and away from that.  However, since they did not obey Him, the Lord decided to remove them from that land.

The day had arrived when God took Israel before the land of the Amorites in order to initiate the occupation of their Promised Land.  However, they should not be fearful, for He who had delivered them from slavery in Egypt, the greatest power in the world of those days, knew very well how to deliver them from the hands of those people too.  Likewise, when we are led to a blessing, which momentarily is guarded by enemies, we must not fear or be frightened. 

In the eyes of the natural man, in order to possess and conquer those lands, there should be tremendous battles, where many should die and many others would be wounded and crippled for life.  Nevertheless, this is not what the Lord had planned.  Things that are impossible for men are possible for God.  Therefore the Almighty’s faithful should never be overtaken by fear or the idea that it is impossible to conquer an enemy.

With the Angel of God going before them, the conquest and possession of those lands would be very easy, but unfortunately they did not think this way.  As they were placed before those lands and hear that they should rise and conquer as their inheritance the Israelites feared.  Then they gathered all the heads of families and asked Moses if they could send a hero from each tribe to see how the land was.  Moses prayed and the Lord permitted.  Permissive will!

Notice: the Lord allowed that the spies would be sent, for this was their way of thinking.  Men’s thoughts are never God’s thoughts, so they should not even be taken into consideration.  They withdrew from the real will of the Lord and entered into the permissive will.  When the spies returned, ten of them discredited the land, saying it would be impossible to occupy. At this word the people wept and cried and desired to return to Egypt.  So the Most High then made them wander 40 years in the desert.

As He sent His people to go up and conquer that land, God said that He would destroy their adversaries.  Nevertheless, because they did other than what He had ordained, the Israelites would not enter into Canaan until the last man over twenty years of age had died.  Then their conquest would cost them many battles and lives.
