Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him; and the people feared the presence of the LORD.  Haggai 1:12

The three main groups of the Israelites heard the voice of God and the words of the prophet Haggai, and surrendered to the Almighty. That should be the response of anyone who fears the Lord. If people reject divine guidance, the Most High will no longer speak to them. Now, those who have the privilege of listening to Him know how to act in order to never receive the label of a rebel. The Creator is wise and omniscient. Believe in Him and live happily!

Zerubbabel means born in Babylon. He was chosen to manage the government of the Israelites who were returning to rebuild the nation. Those were difficult days, and would become worse if they did not look in the Scriptures for the directions that their fathers rejected. For this reason, they went to the Land of Bel, instigated to worship Marduk, the Babylonian god. Bel appears in the composition of names of that land. Zerubbabel and his assistants feared the Lord.

Joshua and the priestly class received the message sent by Haggai and carried it out. When there is unanimity in the fear of God, everything begins to work clearly and precisely. They heard the voice of the Lord in the words of the prophet, and this is the most interesting thing in the preacher’s message. By uniting the civil part of the government of God’s servants and the priesthood, all the people set out to fulfill the divine purpose, according to the revelation given.

Listening to the Lord rejoices the heart, strengthens faith, and empowers us to move forward in doing good. So says the Scriptures: But I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you (…), for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God (John 16:22b-27). When the people heeded the voice of the Lord, they changed their negative way of looking at things and set out to obey Him. Feel strengthened in your heavenly Father and ordain your blessing.

Deliverance will occur when you abandon the beliefs and the negativism that dominates religious people in general, and put into practice Heaven´s will. God will be with you to give you victory. Just assume what the Bible declares about you. Now, all the promises of God have the yes in Jesus, and they work if we put them into action (2 Corinthians 1:20). So, stop giving the devil a foothold in your life and cast him out along with the evil he has brought.

The people who returned from captivity took the Lord’s warnings seriously and established themselves in Him. The people continued the work and finished it, because they believed in God’s Word. Do the same and you will see that it is very easy to be happy. The Holy Spirit enlightens your heart and hopes that you will never disappoint Him. By giving you the right to use the glorious Name of Jesus, God has made you just like His Son, who had all His prayers answered. Hallelujah!

On that day, the people feared the Lord – they started to respect Him and please Him: I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth (3 John 1:4). Give God this joy by walking in the Truth!

In Christ, with love,

God, wise Master! Haggai conveyed the right message on the right day. It was necessary that the Israelites heard Your message with an open heart and believed in You, because Your hand would work in them in a beautiful way. They could not go wrong again, and neither can we!

The civil government, the priesthood, and the rest of the people had to agree with the prophet's message, to finish the reconstruction of the temple. Since the fall in the days of Nebuchadnezzar, the temple had been abandoned, but they would rebuild it!

The lesson was harsh! In the land of Bel, Your people were simply servants of those who did not know You, but had seen great signs wrought by the young men taken by force. Now, You would make them act as it pleased You, for Your eternal glory and honor!
