So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. Exodus 23:25

The lesson learned here in this verse will remain constantly forever with us and will be of tremendous help.  Some people lift the glass up to Heaven every time they drink water and remember God His promise to bless their bread and water.  This is beautiful to see, but if the established conditions are not met, nothing will be done.  In truth, the bread mentioned here is the portion of the Word that He gives us each day and the water is its revelation.

When we do not understand what God says, we pray like children and if nothing happens we become angered with the Lord and ask why the response is not forthcoming.  Nevertheless, if we first seek the benefits of the promise, understanding and practicing the necessary steps to reach it, the divine power will work more easily in our favor.  With our daily bread blessed and the Word revealed we will obtain success.

The first step is one of serving God and not being served of Him.  To serve God is to pray for help in battles, overcoming temptation and reaching the fulfillment of promises.  When we help in the evangelization of the lost here and in other countries, undoubtedly we are serving One who does not want to see anyone perish.  The person who is called to preach and does not accept the mission is in sin.

We have to serve the Lord.  He must reign over our will and our attitude.  If we do not pray before a serious problem because we doubt in the help of the Lord, certainly we do not consider Him to be our God.  We must measure divine intervention proportionate to our faith in the Most High, and not by the size of the problem the devil has placed against us in our paths.  If our conviction is slight (Hebrews 11.1) we must learn how to increase it.

After we serve God, considering Him as such, He will bless our bread and our water.  If we invert this order, nothing will work.  But if we serve Him as He is and wants to be remembered, we will pray and obtain grace.  Although this does not refer to physical bread and water, we can cry out for this purpose, for the Bible does not hold us from doing this.  It is good to pray and praying does wonders!

The remainder of this verse mentions removing infirmities from our midst.  This would be wonderful for those who are called by the Name of the Lord, but many live in painful and costly medical treatments.  There are people whose homes look like drugstores.  Why doesn’t God remove sickness from our midst? One reason might be for not working for Him as He desires.  Mercy!

See if you are opening the door for the enemy to enter your life and perpetrate his vile desires against you.  It is useless to cry out and not take the Lord’s considerations into account.  If this is your case, get yourself right and straight with the Almighty and serve Him as your God and He will be present in you as such.  The decision is yours!  What will you decide?

In Christ, with Love

Father! It is wise and good to learn to do Your will so we can close the door to the enemy.  We have to understand our obligations to meet Your good, pleasant and perfect will.  We cannot live far from You!

We want to serve You in battle against sin that imprisons us to Satan; infirmities that prevent us from receiving cure offered by Jesus wounds, and poverty too that does not allow us to enjoy prosperity and to participate in Your works.

Our bread and water will be blessed.  It would be wonderful and marvelous to give testimony to our abundant life given by Jesus.  From now on, whatever comes from the enemy will not oppress us, and Your promises will be fulfilled one by one!
