The reunion of Jacob’s family began when he was troubled by what his sons did to the people of the land of Hamor. When we are threatened in any way, we turn to the Lord. Now, if we did that every day, no doubt we would live better. When Jacob sought God’s help, he opened his heart, and the Father gave him a recipe to be freed from problems.
Jacob told his family members to stand up. You see, no one can get rid of evil unless he stands before the Almighty. No matter how strong a person is, or even if he has riches, when darkness manages to get into his heart, something bad will happen. Therefore, stand before the Lord and you will find yourself strong enough, in order to face hell and win.
Bethel had a special place in the heart of the patriarch of the Hebrews, because when he fled from Esau, his brother, he had an encounter with God there that changed his life completely. Jacob knew that there he would have a reunion with the Lord of Earth and Heaven. So, he invited those who were with him to get up, leave behind everything that happened in the land of the Hivites, and go to where the Most High had revealed Himself to him.
The patriarch was determined to go to the same place where God had visited him and made promises to him. So, when he left Bethel, he was a changed man, for he knew that his fears were no more. Likewise, once in the Father’s house, you will meet the One who has become your Lord, who is able to transform your life and that of your family. Jacob feared that the Canaanites and the Perizzites would become his enemies, attacking and destroying his people.
In the past, when he was there, he was distressed, but comforted by what he heard from the Most High, he went to the land of his relatives and God protected and enriched him. It would not be now that his life would come to an end. After all, he was heir to the promises of the Almighty. Certainly, with each step he took toward Bethel, his heart was stirred with happiness. Once again, he would be visited by the One who had made the Covenant with Abraham.
Jacob had told his own that the Lord went with him on the road he traveled. That is all we need from the Creator of the Heavens (spiritual realm) and the Earth (material realm). If the Most High goes with us, we will simply be victorious in battles. No doubt the patriarch’s sons desired to get there to erect an altar to the Lord, who had chosen them as His people. Their lives would change when they reached the house of God.
As I said in the previous lesson, remember the encounters you had with God and return to those places. They are in the Bible. As you relive what happened there, you will be visited again, and your spiritual youth will be renewed, even though the physical one has passed.
In Christ, with love,

God of Bethel! How we long to be where You have visited us and made Your promises! We need a new encounter; then we will do right what evil days have caused us to do outside Your counsel. Lord, forgive us and renew us!
Many things led Dinah to be abused. Her family didn't even notice what triggered that evil. However, afterwards, they wanted to get rid of all the evil done. We have been victims of the lures of the evil one, so we ask: "Help us, Father!
We have a Covenant with You, made under Your guidance and power. So, we long to be in Bethel again, Your house, where we will confess our mistakes and do the right things. From now on, we only want to serve You!
