Then they told David, saying, “Look, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are robbing the threshing floors. 1 Samuel 23: 1

David was being pursued by King Saul out of pure envy. It is strange how some people lifted up by God, later, disobey His commands and do the exact opposite of the divine will. Unfortunately, all over the world we hear of such cases, in which some give in to temptations and, over time, no longer care about the day of Judgment, in which they will give an account of their acts.

It is important to analyze the information that come to us, because in many of them the Lord may be giving us missions to fulfill. If we close ourselves to what is being shown to us, we are led to take actions contrary to His will. Indifference hurts the heart of the Most High. When you notice something in a person, pray for them. Perhaps this is an opportunity for you to help this person not to fall.

When the Philistines fought against Keilah, the heart of the man of God realized that the news had not come to his notice by chance. It was a heavenly orientation for him to do something. It may be that something similar is happening to you, when you are informed of some wrongdoing, sinful action or someone else’s mistake. At times, a simple glance in the direction of a person awakens in us the desire to bless them.

Whoever does not care for his neighbor, later on, when he discovers that what attracted his attention came from God Himself, he will have to lament. Now, if we are blessed by giving a simple cup of water to someone for being a disciple of the Master (Mark 9: 41), just imagine what will happen if we pray the prayer of faith or a supplication for someone else? There is no need to let the devil destroy a life or a group of people, if the Lord has spoken to you about it. Act quickly!

The Philistines were in the surroundings of Keilah. The owners of farms, stores or goods were already being plundered. In a short time, lives would be lost; so what could be done? Well, it was not by chance that the son of Jesse received the message. Although not yet the king of Israel, David prayed about what he heard. He could have said that it was Saul’s problem, but no; after all, the Lord had called David, and he obeyed His command.

Do not turn your back on what the Most High shows you. Pray that He will tell you what to do. If you postpone it, you may be held responsible for the evil suffered by someone, whether physical or spiritual. Answer God’s requests and then you will be strengthened to serve Him by fulfilling the mission intended for you. As to the costs and the necessary power, the Almighty will deal with this.

David obeyed and, as a reward, he defeated the enemy. On his return, he brought with him a great plunder. Then, the people of that place saw how much God cared for them. Bring joy to someone and you will see how the Lord will reward you. If David had refused to help those people, he could have been captured and killed by Saul.

In Christ with love,

Our God! What a lesson this verse gives us! When we see someone in error or in a distressing situation, we should pray and seek Your guidance. Your warning will speak louder than our needs. We will answer You!

When you announce something, we have to put it in prayer promptly. Doing what You command us is better than hiding and saying that we do not understand Your call, because soon the reward out of Your hands will come. Thank You for loving us!

It is good to be considered worthy to serve and obey You. It is a privilege to be called by You to participate in Your work. May Your warning signs awaken us and make us go for the fight. Obeying You is more important than participating in human projects. Amen!
