Then David said, “O Lord God of Israel, Your servant has certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to destroy the city for my sake. 1 Samuel 23:10

The information David received was true, so he asked for priestly robes in order to speak to God. If he hid in Keilah, Saul would come to destroy the city and kill him. From a human perspective, there was no solution to such problem and God had to intervene to save His servant. David didn’t blame the Lord for his actions; instead, he prayed humbly until he reached God’s heart and received an answer.

When the Philistines were destroying Keilah, the Spirit of God moved David’s heart to rescue the city, as the threat was imminent (1 Samuel 23:1). And the situation was even worse, because Saul was doing all he could to kill as many people as possible and capture the future king of Israel. A sincere prayer moves the heart of the Most High (1 Chronicles 29:17), and He appreciates exemption from presumption and vanity.

Many times we face difficult situations in which the evil one seeks to destroy us, and we must fight against him. We should call out to our Father and ask Him for direction. Infirmities have no right to afflict us, because we have been healed by Jesus’ stripes (Isaiah 53:5). No adversity can come against us; after all, we are sons of God living among a corrupted people (Philippians 2:15).

Those who have the Holy Spirit are different from the wicked, who don’t hesitate in destroying people’s lives to save their own. God’s servants are very important during these days when man has turned into a soulless money-making machine. Many who swore to take care of the sick, for example, don’t honor their word and see Medicine as a source of profit only.

David begins his prayer speaking softly to the Lord. That’s what we should do. When we walk away from the Father, we become a target for the devil, and it’s not God’s fault. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1). But those who dwell in other places will realize their protection can’t be compared to our safe place. In Christ, we are protected!

In another occasion, David had been used to free Keilah from the hands of the Philistines (1 Samuel 23:5); what was the cause for Keilah to be destructed? David was careful when he spoke to God; not to appease Him, because God never loses control of things, but to be guided by His Spirit on how to proceed. Servants who receive guidance for their intercession obtain answers; and today, the Most High speaks through His Word (Hebrews 1:1).

We can’t stop praying following biblical examples, because these people were being used to prepare the Word of God, which gives direction to man. Learn your rights in Christ and be an overcomer in every adverse situation. The devil keeps away from those who walk with the Lord!

In Christ, with love,

Dr. Soares

Oh God! We can’t be silent before the enemy’s rampant wickedness, as he attacks so many people. He is ruthless, to the point of touching children, who are completely naïve. But we ask You: have mercy of those who suffer and help them!

Free us from men who work for the evil one, who destroys so many lives. We cannot allow evil to prevail in its purposes, because Jesus taught us to do the complete work.

We will see millions of people seeking You and praying to be used. You will lead them to the most distant places on Earth, and they will speak of Your love. We want to go wherever You send us. Then, the world shall know You!
