Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” John 1:48

Jesus’s greeting Nathanael was not well received, because to the latter it seemed 

Like flattery.  If he had never met the Master, why did Jesus say that he was a true Israelite in whom there was nothing false? The Lord’s reply shows that He respects the way we think, because he is no tyrant who demands that people bow to His comments.  God is true and trustworthy.

That was all that Jesus had to say about His future disciple, who on being observed was approved.  Hearing the questioning doubt, the Master did not become upset but with firmness and love, He explained that before Philip called him, He had seen him under the fig tree.  As I have said, the Most High knows everything about everyone, what they do, think, pray. Jesus’s reply surprised the man from Galilee in whom there was no falsehood.

Get used to seeking the Lord in the Scriptures and in prayer. Then you will be surprised with what you will learn about Him and His precise answers. To start walking with Christ is the beginning of an endless journey.  Each step you take you will perceive that He knows the smallest details of your life.  When you please God, moving and acting in faith, He will satisfy even your intimate desires.  The good Savior is incomparable to none.

What was Nathanael doing under the fig tree, when Jesus said that He saw him?

Most likely, he was praying.  Seeing that the field was barren, he went there and confirmed that he was alone.  Then he prayed asking God that he would not be allowed to be deceived with the events in his land.  He must have called out in a very low voice, being careful that nobody knew of his request and soon his heart was comforted.

As soon as he heard Jesus’s words, Nathanael was moved and confessed that he was seeking for the Master (John 1:49). The truth reveals Itself to those who seek for it; and immediately as a result the search ceases.  At that moment, that servant had no doubt that he was in the presence of Jehovah who had fathered his nation.  Seek unique experiences with God.  He gives to those who ask!

How many times you have sought the Lord and squandered the opportunities to find Him?  It is high time to pray in the right manner and await His answer.  It would really be great that nobody made any decision until they learned how to ask and receive directions from the Most High.  He is God Omniscient and would never say anything to anyone that was not the whole truth.  The Father delights in seeing you walk the walk with total confidence.

Do not waste the opportunity to know the Creator.  Probably  fearing that you do meet up with the Lord, the devil will use people during your life to say that God does not exist and other lies equal to or worse than this.  Now your heart burns with desire to know Him.  How about making use of this opportunity right now?
