That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.   2 Thessalonians 1.12

This statement by Paul follows that of the previous verse. In it, the apostle talks about his prayer for the Thessalonian Christians. He prayed for them always, that they might be worthy of the call to the New Testament ministry and the desire of their goodness and the work of faith accomplished with power be fulfilled. We should see what is happening to our brothers and sisters in the distant parts of the world and help them in prayer.

The apostle’s attitude not only showed his care for them, but also aimed at glorifying the Name of the Lord (1 Corinthians 10.31). This reason is worthy of our attention. We know that the enemy will try to tarnish the Gospel, pointing out “flaws” that would come from the Name of Jesus, but are actually from people. After all, they allow themselves to be deceived by the lies of the devil and end up sinning. The Name is holy and works when we use it against any evil. As one, God and His Name are invincible. Believe this (Exodus 3.13,14)!

Our mission was the best thing that could happen to us. By accepting what God said about us, we were inserted in the group that will go to Heaven, the Heavenly Shock Troop. Therefore, we have to live in a worthy manner. The Bible deals with the procedure of God’s servants: No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier (2 Timothy 2.4). Let us respect the name of Jesus!

It’s good to be grateful to God by carrying out the task given by Him. The closer Jesus’ return draws nearer, the more the enemy comes with all his fury, because he knows that he has little time left: Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time. (Revelation 12.12). Both heaven and man on Earth should rejoice in fearlessness!

The apostle Paul prayed on our behalf, that God would make us worthy of the calling we have received from His hands:  Therefore, we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power (2 Thessalonians 1.11). Here’s the best of it all: we are in the divine plan; then, nothing will take us off the Path. No temptation has in itself power to lead us astray.

We have one goal: to praise the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. When we do this, God will make us glorified in His Son. So be sober and never let the forces of the kingdom of evil cause you to trespass against your future at the Lord’s side. Nothing the devil shows is worth the loss of the happiness to be enjoyed for ever and ever in the Father’s house. The Most High prepares the necessary escape whenever the enemy comes to tempt us (1 Corinthians 10.13). Be alert!

All that we are in God and can be will be given to us according to the grace of God and of Christ. Jesus can be exalted in us and we in Him. The moving of divine power over our lives exceeds all that is needed. Whoever believes will never be put to shame, so be faithful unto death and receive the crown of life (Revelation 2.10b).

In Christ, with love,

Father of our glorification! We thank You because the Holy Spirit placed in Paul's heart the desire to cry out for us. Let it be understood, then, that Your perfect will is that we be like Your Son, who is glorified in us, and we in Him!

With Your help, we will pay attention to Your Word, and Your Son will be magnified in us. Thus, we cry out with all our hearts, and by faith, we will be heard. We must honor You and do good!

Even if the kingdom of darkness struggles to defeat us, Your faithfulness will never allow a single hair on our head to fall. Everything in us must cooperate so that Your grace can operate effectively in our lives. Amen!
