Then Eli answered and said, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him.”   1 Samuel 1.17

Every battle we face in any realm, whether in our family or involving other people, is spiritual. But we are indebted to all people about the meaning of faith in Christ. As we defend ourselves with patience and faith in God’s Word, those who go against the Truth will learn that it is meant for them. Therefore, they must listen to the Lord, for they are included in the work of Jesus.

The prophet Hosea said: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4.6). However, when the person learns what the Good News says about him, about his suffering and that he needs to suffer no more, just one attitude of faith is enough for him to obtain healing. Jesus spoke about this: And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8.32). The best thing to do is to preach the Truth, because it sets us free.

Upon seeing Hannah´s sanity and the wisdom in her speech, the priest simply told her to go in peace. The despised wife of Elkanah, discriminated against and scorned by the other wife of this descendant of an Ephraimite, saw the divine goodness. God’s way is perfect, so there is always a meaning in His words (Psalm 18.30). Although we may not understand the Lord’s plan for us, the right thing to do is to trust in His faithfulness and He will surely help us in everything.

The blessing pronounced by Eli boiled was summed up in the declaration that she go in peace. No longer would Hannah be sad and distressed over her problem. Nothing more needed to be said, because God had heard her petition and granted what she so desperately sought. From then on, there was no longer any reason to struggle to have a child. He would come naturally. The pregnancy was smooth, as was the birth. She could consider herself fulfilled!

People who are struggling to receive a blessing should do so until they have Heaven’s confirmation in their hearts. When that happens, there will be no need to inquire of the Lord or to prepare for the unforeseen. Isn’t this what happened to Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, who was attacked by a great confederation of nations, formed by Ammonites, Moabites, plus those from the mountain of Seir, the Arabians, and others? (2 Chronicles 20:1-30). Believe and live!

As she said goodbye to Eli, with the conviction that the God of Israel would grant her petition, Hannah left rejoicing that Samuel (whose meaning is His Name is God) would be born, and she would fulfill her vow to deliver him to the temple, as soon as he was weaned, in order to be prepared to serve the Lord in the Tabernacle, throughout all his life. Upon receiving the word from the man of God, she already considered herself the mother of someone who would do the divine work.

The best thing we can do in life, resulting in blessings for ourselves, our family, and others, is to know the will of our heavenly Father. If you want, make a vow, but don’t delay in fulfilling it (Ecclesiastes 5.4-6). The Most High does not sell His blessing, but He loves those who make a vow and carry it out. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and you will be very happy.

In Christ, with love,

God who gives us peace! In Scriptures, there are many things about You and Your children. One of them is: You never send away empty handed those who seek and love You. We want to serve You with all our heart, having and keeping Your commandments!

Then we will be loved by You and have Your promise fulfilled. It is just a matter of waiting to see You joyfully fulfill all that You have told us. May Your blessing be upon us all!

You are the same today, and You do not ask us to make a vow on anything unless we hear it from Your mouth. So, with fear and trembling before You, we declare that we believe in Your Word. Send the answer we need to hear, for You are our Lord!
