Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43.19

The Lord prepared Himself to make the New Covenant with amazing anticipation. Seven hundred years before His Son was born into the world, God said that He would do a new thing. The importance of this majestic deed is yet to be understood, but because God spoke about it so far in advance, we can see that it would be – and is – something phenomenal, which everyone should strive to understand, for this Covenant is the Father’s best for us.

The same prophet announced our complete redemption: Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53.4,5). In the New Covenant, we find salvation and the other blessings it brings.

Although the revelation informs us that our problems have their desired end in Jesus, few people dedicate themselves to take possession of the Promised Land. Those who really believe in the Lord do not accept any kind of temptation – sinful desires, sickness, and other works that the evil one insists on making us carry. Why endure what Christ has already taken away? Doesn’t it seem like a contradiction? Yes, we have the right to live free from evil.

God’s timing is different from ours. Isaiah declared that this new thing to be done would come forth now, in our time, but it took 700 years to occur. Here is the lesson that remains: we can and should look back, seeing that more than two thousand years have passed, and say that it was yesterday that Jesus took our place, completely freeing us from sin and suffering. We need to believe in the Lord and claim what belongs to us.

Peter went to the brothers who lived in Lydda and discovered that Aeneas lived there, someone with the best reputation for being a man of faith. However, he had been living on a bed for eight years. This bothered the apostle. The apostle went to visit him and, unlike the people who offered the sick “compassion and condolences,” said to him: “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” And so it came to pass (Acts 9.34 – 35).

We don’t have to bring sympathy to people, but rather the Gospel, the Good News of what Jesus accomplished on behalf of everyone. When we do this, we find that this is the message that the Lord expects us to deliver to everyone. Now, this is the work that God promised to do and has done (Acts 10.38). Those suffering need to be informed and at the same time, commanded to receive the blessing provided by the Lord when He suffered the wounds that healed us (1 Peter 2.24). Believe and be healed!

The Most High has placed a path in the desert to lead man to Him, as well as rivers in the wilderness. Whoever puts his faith in the Savior does not continue to suffer the attacks of the devil. Right now, assume yourself as one redeemed by Christ, leaving all sin behind and being healed of your ills (James 5.16). Jesus came to give you life, and life in abundance (John 10:10).

In Christ, with love,

God of the New Covenant! We live in failure because we have been badly taught. But the new work You did with the coming of Christ has freed us from the hatred and evil in us. Now we claim our redemption in Jesus' Name!

Your prophecy was fulfilled more than two thousand years ago, so now the afflicted can declare themselves free. Like Aeneas, they will be able to get up and make their bed. We have been healed by Jesus' wounds and saved by His blood!

Our wilderness leads us to You. You will supply us and deliver us from misfortune. In the wilderness, where we used to dwell, there is now a river and its current gives us joy and freedom in You. We do not accept to live below what You reveal. Amen!
