But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience Luke 8.15

In the verse to be studied, we will see that the good land means to have an honest and good heart, persevering to the end. We need this, because then we will have what God has promised, and His love will be the arbiter in our lives (Colossians 3.15). Truly, the Bible has what is necessary for us to be led in triumph: Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place (2 Corinthians 2.14).

The seed was thrown into the air, in favor of the wind, without scientific precision. This way, the Lord would give the right direction, pointing to where it should fall. He is perfect in what he does, but we are not. We must sow all the time, for the good result will not come from our expertise:  In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike will be good (Ecclesiastes 11.6).

There is no way to choose the good soil, but we can count on God’s hands working in this process. Thus, the message will reach the lost and the needy. To be used to minister the Word should be our concern and the reason for our prayers. After we have sown the seed, we must be sensitive to the Lord’s actions. Now, no farmer sows simply because he enjoying doing it, but to get a satisfactory return.

The seed mentioned by Jesus fell on good soil. Why didn’t the same happen to the others? Why didn’t they all produce what they should, and three quarters of them were lost? Why can’t the good soil always give 100% return? The answers are obvious, clear; but unfortunately, we do not always learn from the Master’s lessons. May the Lord help us to understand the right way to act in order to achieve our purpose!

According to Jesus, there were two factors to be explored and understood, in order to achieve success: noble and good heart. No wonder He gave us His teachings! Christ did this in order for us to pray about how to act and achieve our goals. We will receive the reward for our work, when all the requirements for our participation are understood and employed. God gives us the victory!

The noble heart confesses its mistakes, repents of them, and does God’s will more correctly. Although noble, there is still much to improve; after all, we are human beings and therefore full of imperfections. Of one thing we can be sure: the Lord would not speak something that cannot be understood and used. We must follow the example left by Jesus, seeking to understand the Word, by meditating on what was written as His help for us.

The good heart bows before the Almighty and loving God. Thus, it will become the good earth, capable of giving a perfect yield: ten thousand percent return. Jesus also talked about patient. Now, without this virtue, there is no way for the good earth to produce the best. Persevering in the struggle to overcome temptations will give us the expected result!

In Christ, with love,

Lord, our Helper! We are grateful that You help us to reach the end You wish to see in all the work done for Your Kingdom. Open our understanding to give You true praise: the good produce that Your seed is able to produce!

We need to have an honest and good heart, so that Your power may crown our participation, and the harvest planned by You may happen. We pray that, on our part, the seed will never be lost, but will be guided by Your wind and fall on good ground.

We need to be patient, just as You instruct us. We know that most of the time we are fickle, and because of this, the answer to our requests doesn't always come, because we don't know how to ask and how to receive. So teach us to follow Your guidance!
