And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life. Philippians 4:3

Because Paul’s letter to the Philippians was inspired by the Holy Spirit, it was sent to those who served God in the city of Philippi. Today, it is addressed to anyone around the world who feels the Word speaking to them. In this letter, the apostle demonstrates his care for some sisters who assisted his ministry. Fellow workers are very important, not only to the leaders, but to all those who take part in the divine work around the world.

The church in Philippi was taught to fight under the yoke of the Lord, which is easy, and under His burden, which is light (Matthew 11:30). However, that demands complete dedication to God and to those who are seeking blessings. Paul did all he could so that the Philippian brothers would be a pleasure to the Lord. For sure, after they had been instructed in the important help they would render to the apostle and to the people, they did what they were supposed to do. Glory to the Most High!

Paul was speaking to someone in particular when he call them “true companion”. In the same way he was under the authority of Jesus, he also considered those who were fighting beside him under this same authority. The church will grow and remain great before God and the people when it is truly serving God, not men. Well, when we work under this vision, it causes us to battle harder, so that the work will truly be considered a divine one.

The apostle asked people to help the women who were working with him in the holy work. We should always remember those who were by our side, helping the work of God physically and financially, as well as the people who prayed so the Gospel could be preached around the world. The workers have necessities and we can also support them in prayer. God is pleased with everything we do on their behalf!

Paul mentioned the workers without saying names, except for Clement and a few others. We are fulfilling this noble mission received from the Father because we have backup. Now, if our names aren’t mentioned, we should never be discouraged because God registers even a cup of cold water given to His little ones (Matthew 10:42). The best reward comes from Him!

Those who serve the Lord with love will have their names written in the book of life. But those who have dark motives, in order to receive something in return, will be judged. We should at least pray for our workers! Even though we are flawed, when we feel the touch of heaven, we should go into battle on their behalf, even if they never know how much our prayers blessed them.

What kind of servants are we? Do we do the work because we love the Lord or because of the reward? Sooner or later, people who have been called by God will receive their reward, because they’re dedicating their time so the Gospel will be preached to the lost ones. They deserve our love!

In Christ, with love,

Dr. Soares

Lord, our true Companion! Your Son’s mission was to save us and give the example of how workers should behave, showing that without holiness, no one will see You. We want our workers to be marked by Your love!

We can’t forget to mention people’s names and their necessities when we remember them, as well as the love they demonstrate to those who are drawing near to You. May Your hand be upon those who contributed to our work and may You reward them!

May Your eyes be upon those who are helping us to fulfill Your plans, because they have proved they love You. With love and faith, we ask for confirmation of Your promises upon these “yoke mates”. Bless them, Father!
