13/10/2018 - HOW TO BE BLESSED

If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. John 13: 17

One of Jesus’ greatest statements was the one that was made after His invitation to go to Him. On that occasion, the Master explained why we should follow Him, saying that it is to learn from Him (Matthew 11: 28,29). Those who resist the Master’s invitation lose much, because when they need to act like Him, they will not know how to proceed and will not be loved by the Lord. What God can accomplish in your favor depends on what you do with His commandments.

The person who learns from the Creator acquires knowledge with Whom made all things and therefore is a master in any subject. By learning the principles used by the Most High to create and sustain the Heavens and the Earth, you enter into a new and complete world, which you would not come to know in any other way. The lessons of God are valuable to those who desire to be delivered from the realm of evil.

One day, Jesus took His garment and girded Himself with a towel. Then He picked up a basin and filled it with water. Then He began to wash and wipe the disciples’ feet with the towel with which He was girded. None of them questioned this action, which is not good (John 13: 2-6). In fact, when we ask the Father for explanations, we become more educated. If you do not understand something in the Bible, ask Him.

As he approached Simon Peter, Jesus heard from him a question whose answer was obvious. He wanted to know if his feet would also be washed by the Master, and the answer was yes (v. 6, 7). Then Peter told Him that this would never happen, because, knowing Who Jesus was, the disciple did not think himself worthy to receive such an act. Oftentimes, we also find ourselves unworthy of a healing or another work of God. However, this is not true!

In that attitude of humility, Christ taught us how to act with our neighbor, but we are rarely ready to imitate the Master. Prejudice has been great among the people of God. As some people improve in life, they begin to discriminate against those who still do not understand that the blessing of the Lord prospers. Because of this lack of understanding, they do nothing to take possession of what faith in Christ holds for them.

With Peter’s refusal, the Lord was clear and objective: If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me (verse 8). When God wants to use you on a mission, or do something in your favor, accept it. It is not good to disagree with the One who knows all things. He is Lord, so why try to understand what He does or oppose Him? Submit yourself to God, let Him use you, because in the end you will find that He was right.

When He finished washing the feet of the twelve, Christ affirmed that He had given them the example. Therefore, they should act in the same way. The model given by Him can and should be used in everything we do; there is nothing inconvenient about it. As we follow His teachings, we will be welcome everywhere and successful in all that we do for His glory.

In Christ with love,

Father! Jesus gave us a great example when washing the disciples' feet. May we learn the lesson and practice it always, because those who humble themselves will be exalted by You.

We must follow this example, walking in success and doing Your work. Those who trust in You will stand out for the simplicity in the way they act. There is no way for the devil to shame those who follow the divine directions.

We do not understand many of Your actions, but we believe they are good for us. We do not want to leave Your presence for a single reason. May we never open ourselves to the enemy. You are the Lord!
