And thus you shall say to him who lives in prosperity: ‘Peace be to you, peace to your house, and peace to all that you have! 1 Samuel 25.6

The purpose of God’s children going anywhere to serve a person or family should be to bring peace. After all, they are servants of the One who is the Solution to problems. Therefore, don’t tell anyone what you heard from the person you helped. And if someone tells you that this person is worthless, smile and thank the Father, for you have the power to bind every work of Satan that attacks that life. The Lord is never wrong in any plan.

That prosperous man could help David and his brave men. It was difficult for Jesse´s son to support the 600 warriors who believed in him and served him with their lives; each had a wife and children. His daily bill was high, but many in Israel invested in David and his ministry. Yes, that was a ministry, for God was preparing him to rule over His beloved people.

As a good master, the future king of the Israelites instructed the servants to greet Nabal with peace and extend it to his house and his possessions. Since he wasn’t a good guy, peace returned to David’s group of ambassadors. Jesus explained that the same could happen to us: And when you go into a household, greet it. If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you (Matthew 10.12,13). Stay alert!

Wisdom is a gift from God to those who need it, as the apostle James teaches us:  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord (James 1.5-7).

Nabal was an Israelite, so he was well informed about David’s struggle to preserve his own life from Saul’s deadly onslaughts. David spent his days in the deserts, fleeing from the impetuous and evil king. The latter had been reproached by the Most High and wanted to eliminate the one who, by fearing the Lord, would be a wise ruler. Why do some people persist in sinning?

The farmer of Maon knew God’s Law and knew that he should help those in need, let alone David, who would soon be king over Israel. However, this rich man had become a wicked person whose heart cared only for himself and his own and no one else. Unfortunately, this happens to many people who claim to be from God, but don’t keep the commandments and despise the promise of divine rewards.

Have great regard for those who are persecuted because they are God’s instruments in His work. Now, the servants of the Lord will never be forsaken, but those who despise the little ones of the Father will be very sorry: And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me (Matthew 25:40).

In Christ, with love,

God of peace and prosperity! Thank You for thinking of our happiness, giving us Your love! With it, we can face the operations of darkness and emerge victorious. Your help is indispensable; guide us with Your power!

We need to live at the feet of Your Son. Then we will learn to please You without scandalizing anyone. The enemy wants us to live away from Your presence, in order to tempt us with his evil proposals. May we always be close to You!

We thank You for making us firm in Christ, filled with Your Spirit, and ready to overcome the demons that come against us. Thus, we will not be defeated by any hellish force. We will glorify You, recognizing Your favor every minute!
