So Paul asked, “Then what baptism did you receive?” “John’s baptism,” they replied. Acts 19:3

John the Baptist’s mission had the purpose of opening the way, so that Jesus could bring the revelation of what God was doing since then in the world.  With the Savior’s coming, the separation between the Almighty and man ended.  Today, those who fulfill the Lord’s command become His friends.  For many, if somebody declares himself to be a friend of Jesus he may seem to be presumptuous, but it was Jesus Himself who declared this; therefore, we are His friends (John 15:14,15).

To be baptized unto John it was necessary to fulfill the requirements of the righteousness of God for those days.  However, after the Master started preaching, the baptism that became necessary was in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  After having resurrected, Christ condition salvation to the process of a new birth (John 3:3) and said that those who believed and were baptized would be saved (Mark 16:16). Why change?

There remains a doubt concerning how the newly converted are to be baptized.  Because they do not meditate on the Scriptures, many state that baptism is valid only in the Name of Jesus.  When Peter, then Paul baptized people in the Name of Christ, they were referring to the understanding given by the Master; they were not changing the Lord’s prescription. (Matthew 28:19).

There is one great mistake in the debate sustained by a group of Christians that teaches that the baptism must be performed only in the Name of Jesus. Peter and Paul did not say this.  No doubt, they respected the order from Christ that was to use the Name of the members of the holy Trinity.  They preached the Good News, expelled demon and healed the sick using this Name.

Paul declared that baptism unto John occurred because people believed in what the prophet had said.  However, having accepted the Gospel they should be baptized in the Name of Jesus under the command of the Lord.  Peter and Paul would not be used to change the Master’s command.  I baptized all the converted in the Name of Jesus but I do this as Christ ordered: in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  I wouldn’t be crazy to do it differently.  Would you?

Before baptizing anyone in the waters, I will teach the true meaning of this act, leading the person to know the six blessings received: the burial of the old man (Colossians 2:12), the remission of sins (Acts 2:38), the removal from the body of flesh; (Colossians 2:11) and the body from sin (Romans 6:6), the circumcision of the heart (Romans 2.29) and the rising from  the waters to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4). Baptism is more than the entry gate to the church; it is an act that provides gifts.

Paul commanded that the disciples be baptized with the understanding given by Jesus with regards to this.  After having baptized them he took them to receive the

Holy Spirit. Then having received anointment from Above, they completed their experience of the second birth. This made them able to see the Kingdom of God, to enter into it and to fulfill their work.

In Christ, with Love,

Author and Revealer of the baptism of the Holy Spirit!  One cannot ignore the baptism in the waters, performed in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, as Jesus ordered us.  We want to work in Your Name, without doctrinal confusions.

Help us to maintain the pureness in faith, wisdom in testimony and love for the lost, as Your Son showed in His days on Earth.  You know all things and nothing will remove us from Your presence.

To Paul it was not enough to be baptized unto John, but in what Jesus had ordered, so he baptized the disciples again in the waters.  Subsequently, You baptized them with Your Spirit, preparing them to go throughout the world.
