21/09/2020 - LET YOUR FAITH SPEAK LOUDER

But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Genesis 22:7

Abraham did not receive the special title of friend of God for nothing (Is 41.8). The test the patriarch of the Hebrews went through was extremely tough. He testified to the Lord that he would go to great lengths to please Him. Nowadays, to have that same qualification as a friend of God, we only need to follow the guidelines of the Holy Book. So, if you want to do like Abraham and show your love for the Lord, always obey the Word.

Christ’s death in our place has lifted man out of the oppression of the enemy, delivering us from diabolical captivity. His blood shed at Calvary has purified us, freeing us from the filth of sin. Because of this martyrdom on the cross, we became His children, heirs of the Father and joint heirs with Jesus. This is very significant!

It is essential to understand such a sacrifice. Knowing its meaning and its consequences, we will achieve divine blessings, we will be able to rebuke evil and get rid of its attacks. Understand: when divine grace touches us, our sins are forgiven, we are freed from the empire of evil and suffering, and we are born again. We are no longer guilty! Christ took it upon Himself!

Abraham’s heart must have broken when he heard the boy Isaac’s question: “Where’s the lamb for the burnt offering?” However, that father remained firm in the faith, not allowing feelings to dominate him. After all, he knew the God in whom he trusted, so he was sure of the Lord’s actions that he had already done so much for him. We must proceed in the same way, strengthening ourselves in faith and seeing the Lord acting.

Because we are members of the Body of Christ, there is no one who separates us from God. If the Head of that Body won, the parts are also winners. In this way, we must never give up the walk of faith. Emotions may try to overpower us, but we need to keep in mind the fact that we know our God and know that He will grant us the means to move on. Don’t back down, because the promises about you will be kept!

That day, on Mount Moriah, Abraham, probably struggling with countless emotions inside, let his faith speak louder. “Here I am,” he said to his son. He did not back down from the ordeal, from little Isaac’s innocent question. The patriarch trusted in God’s action and was widely blessed. What an example of a man of faith!

In Christ, with love,

Wonderful God! We may have difficulties to understand the nuances of Thy acting today, but we are sure that, one day, You will explain every detail to us. Let us be faithful so that we are not disqualified from the work that will last forever.

Help us to keep our faith unshakable and to have the patience to wait for Your blessed action. Sometimes we are enmeshed by external factors, which try to take the focus away from You, but we need to have the necessary insight to never retreat.

Jesus' work on Calvary was very cruel, but necessary to rescue the lost. It is a great honor to be targets of Your providence! May we always contemplate Your wonders! Amen!
