Now I gathered them by the river that flows to Ahava, and we camped there three days. And I looked among the people and the priests, and found none of the sons of Levi there. Ezra 8.15

Before beginning the four-month journey to Jerusalem, Ezra the priest gathered those who decided to go with him to the Great King’s city in order to rebuild the country devastated by Nebuchadnezzar. The cause of the destruction was the way the people of Judah, the southern kingdom, lived. It is amazing how, even freed from slavery in Egypt, the Israelites continued to suffer in Babylon. This tells those that are saved not to live in the flesh, lest they suffer again (Galatians 6.8)!

The 70 years prophesied by Jeremiah were coming to an end (Jeremiah 29.10). Before long, the people of Israel would be in the Promised Land again. They would go with aching hearts from the shameful guilt and punishment that weighed upon them for not letting the Lord use them to teach lessons to other peoples. Likewise, those who neither serve God with integrity of heart nor care what they will suffer are harming the weak in faith and mind.

In the meeting held near the river that flowed through Aava, near Damascus, Syria, which was a tributary of the Euphrates River, the priest did not meet those appointed by God for the praise and care of His house. Today, we need to have services similar to what the prophet did, as we are about to be raptured and taken to the Kingdom of Heaven, but if we look closely, it is very likely that we will not find a single one of the “Levites” present.

Many who call themselves worshipers of God need to consecrate themselves and seek the Lord to receive forgiveness for their sins, but they continue to sin. Has the Lord changed, or have they been deceived? How can people who have received special gifts to give the Most High perfect praise continue in error? These are difficult times we live in, as the majority only think about what the lost consider to be a priority. But the text of Matthew 6.33 declares: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

The Lord is gathering His people who are scattered throughout the corners of modern Babylon. He has the greatest opportunities to lead the unwary away from the Satan’s lure, who works tirelessly on all fronts, giving men the impression that life on earth will last forever and that people cease to exist after death. Believe what the Lord says and not the serpent’s speech (Hebrews 9.27).

Ezra and the priests stayed in camp for three days and sent messengers to tell everyone that the time to return had come. Isn’t that what God is doing now? How many times has He stated that time is running out and you need to be quick, otherwise your plans will remain in the land of captivity forever. Take advantage of this and draw close to the Lord. He is merciful to forgive, cleanse, and change your life.

Do as Ezra did, who preached fasting by the river Aava. You stand by the eternal River, which will cleanse you from all sin. This wholesome Fountain will make you what God has planned. Ask guidance for you, your family, and those who are unprepared to go with the Lord into the world of perfection. Be wise and pray now!
