That is, the LORD God of hosts. The LORD is His memorable name. Hosea 12:5

Let’s remember the first three lessons we studied, when Hosea stated that God would reward Jacob for his works. The first of these was done just before his birth. We don’t know how he realized what he had to do, but he did it: he grabbed his twin brother’s heel and didn’t let go, even with the common movements of every baby coming out of his mother’s belly (Genesis 25:26). For having collaborated with the Lord in His plan, there is a reward for him on the Great Day, the Day of Redemption!

Every time we face a temptation or a well-armed snare and know how to say no to the devil and decide to stay with the Lord, we will be worthy of a reward. A prayer silently said for someone and a word that helped a person to turn away from the enemy will result in eternal reward. The Bible declares that we are God’s fellow workers (1 Corinthians 3:9).

Letting ourselves be used by the Almighty, guided by His touches in the Word, will make us successful in the world to come. See what is written: For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister (Hebrews 6:10). Perhaps you have missed many opportunities to do good, but follow Jesus’ example (Acts 10:38).

Jacob was wise to fight with God, for God had said that He would protect him everywhere he went and would bring him back to his land. The news that his brother would meet him with men ready to terminate his life and the lives of his family made Jacob go into battle with the only One capable of fulfilling His Word. The saved should behave the same way when facing any lie shown by the enemy. God is faithful!

You will be rewarded as a son of Jacob, if you also follow what has been spoken by God. As Balaam declared, God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19). Persevering in claiming your right will result in many blessings at the end of the ages (Luke 6:38).

There are those who love their own lives more than the Word of the Lord. Now, if He has chosen you to witness to the Truth, go through whatever is necessary. Every child of God must face the threats of evil and be faithful: I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. (Revelation 3:8). Jacob fought with the God of hosts. Amen!

For having done the right thing, the Hebrews patriarch has the eternal Memorial, the Lord, and will be rewarded, because he followed the direction from on High. Never deny the learning obtained in the Scriptures. Whoever allows sin to take him away from the presence of the Lord is blind to how much he loses. The Most High would be that person’s memorial, but far from Him, he will never see the light of dawn (Isaiah 8:20). The secret is to always be faithful!

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

Father, our Memorial! What a declaration! It encourages us to follow You, for we are collaborating with Your work. Jacob´s goal was to do good, even before he was born. You are Master in all things!

Take us into Your hands and lead us to execute Your plans. Being part of the Body of Christ, we can never act outside Your command. Forgive us for the times we have not honored You or respected You. From now on, make us servants faithful to You!

Let's leave rebellion aside! We have You as our Supreme Commander and we want to obey You in everything. We thank You for the calling to participate in Your holy work!
