His breath is like an overflowing stream, Which reaches up to the neck, To sift the nations with the sieve of futility; And there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, Causing them to err. Isaiah 30: 28

God was not kidding when he said that the coming of His Son into the world would destroy the evil deeds. He has done what is necessary with the enemy, and now it is our turn to stop the actions of the devil against humanity. In preaching the Gospel, we follow the work of the Lord which ruin the works of evil. But if we do nothing, despite being defeated, Satan will continue to enslave many people.

The Most High revealed to Isaiah different pictures of Jesus’ ministry and compared the Messiah to an overflowing stream. The stream, which is a small river, fills beyond its limit in the days of torrential rain, wreaking havoc on its banks. Christ is similar to this watercourse: when He enters the battle in our favor, He is ready to do whatever it takes to help us. The Lord came from afar to rescue us.

In David’s story we see an example of God’s divine action for us. When David assumed the position of king of Israel, and the Philistines gathered themselves together against him, the son of Jesse rose up and fought them. After conquering them, he looked like a war machine, like the bursting of a weir, which takes away everything ahead. There is no evil work that will resist the Savior’s entrance in a war. The Lord comes in when we determine something in His Name.

The world lives in the sieve of vanity. Because they consider the pleasures of sin more important than the divine will, many even seek God, but they don´t truly repent. Because of this, they will be sifted in the sieve of vanity that they have always loved and supported. Whoever gives little value to the Word will be treated to the same extent when asking for help, because that which we use to measure will be used to measure and reward us (Matthew 7: 2).

Jesus came to put a brake on the jaws of demons. When we rebuke them in the Name of the Lord, paralyzing their actions, and demanding that they leave, that brake comes into action, and they obey us. Today, God is sifting people according to their attitude towards His guidance. No one can excuse himself by claiming innocence or lack of knowledge, because every time someone preaches the Word of God, the Most High makes Himself known through it. Amen?

Summing up what we have learned from Isaiah in this and other lessons: the time of the devil to act in our world is coming to an end. In fact, this has already occurred. Therefore, we do not have to despair and think that everything was done for God to work for the needy. After all, when someone uses His Name and determines evil to go away, the Stream overflows, and all evil is taken away. Halleluiah!

As we use the Name of Jesus with faith, evil flees from Him who comes from afar burning in His anger (Isaiah 30: 27). Then, act firmly on the Lord and reject any evil deed. All glory be to God!

In Christ with love,

Lord, our overflowing Stream! Come in Your strength, overflowing with power and taking away the evils that keep us from living well. This way, whoever believes in You will no longer submit to the sufferings caused by the power of darkness.

You burn in Your anger to do justice, and as You pass by, a thick cloud of smoke proves that You have been at work with Your fire. You do not leave for later what needs to be done now. Operate according to Your will!

Help us understand the meaning of Pleasing You, without retreating because of any threat from the enemy. Then, with joy, we will give You true praise. You are righteous and matchless! You are our God!
