But I am poor and needy; make haste to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay.  Psalm 70.5

Who knew that the great hero of Israel, invincible in battles, was also afflicted and in need as we often are? He was just like anyone else, so he suffered the attacks of the enemy. Never consider yourself abandoned by God. No matter how hard the trial, He will be by your side to help you not to fall into the tale of the filthy tempter (Romans 8.31-39). The Lord is faithful at all times!

As long as we live in the world, we will have tribulations (John 16.33). It doesn’t matter who we are and what we do well or not; they will come upon everyone indiscriminately. However, those who give themselves to doing good receive divine help in their temptations. We don’t have to fear or despair when we go through true tests of faithfulness, because the Lord completely assists us and delivers us from the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6.11). We are overcomers!

As for temptations, when you are going through them, remember what God says in His Word: No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. (1 Corinthians 10.13). Therefore, you will never be responsible for this evil work. When it comes, God will give you the way out.

David used divine wisdom and asked the Lord to make haste. The psalmist saw this in Joseph, Jacob’s son, who was sold into slavery, and felt that this happened because God was already preparing him to fulfill His purpose. The same happens with us: when the Father’s revelation comes to us, He wants us to act on it. Isn’t that what Jesus said to Judas Iscariot (John 13.27)? It’s not a sin to ask God to hurry!

David confessed that the Most High was his Helper and Deliverer. The Word says that we must remind Him of His promises: Put Me in remembrance; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted (Isaiah 43.26). When we do this, we reinforce the idea in ourselves, for He never forgets His words. As you remember them, your faith grows, and you attain the blessing.

Jehoshaphat prayed confidently about the Word sent by the prophet Jahaziel: And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s (2 Chronicles 20:15). Next, he did what no one would do: he did not fight before the enemy, but praised God, and He did the work (v. 20-27).

Finally, David closes this victorious prayer, asking the Lord to stop at nothing, since his need was urgent. Now you know that there is healing for your distress and provision for your need. So, I invite you to pray, reminding the Lord of His promises, and asking Him not to stop, but to come quickly to help you out of your distress. Believe!

In Christ, with love,

God of the afflicted and needy! There is no reason to fear the enemy if we have You with us. Having Your Word, victory is only a matter of time. You are more beautiful than we thought!

We are also in anguish, needing Your help. Make haste to act in our favor. Then the enemy will not celebrate our failure. How could we be defeated if Your presence will go with us and Your Spirit will guide us all the way?

You are our Help; therefore we are not afraid of any threat. If the evil that has befallen us has come from some evil deed that we have done, we ask for Your forgiveness and Your deliverance. You are our Rescuer. Come quickly, Father!
