Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.   Psalm116:2

David proved and saw that the Lord listened to him, and this has much to teach us. Biblical directions are of great value to those who take them, and God attends to all who keep His Word. Those who do not do this and prefer to walk their own way will find out how foolish it was. After all, there is no plausible reason why someone leaves the path of success to take another that will lead them astray.

Remember, the Lord is no respecter of people, but will only attend to those who follow Him. He bends His ears to those who seek Him with all their heart, loving those who love Him – have His commandments and keep them (John 14:21). No use praying all the time if you don’t obey God, because your petitions won’t be answered. Nor will it have any effect if you sin and then, when you ask for forgiveness, you do not sincerely repent. The Lord will not come to His aid.

The psalmist realized all these things. Walking in the right way, he could always call on the Lord. Do the same! Invoke Him as needed. When Peter asked Jesus how many times he should forgive a brother who sinned against him, the Master said that we should release forgiveness not once or twice, but always (Mt 18.21,22)! Now if we, being human and flawed, have to grant forgiveness in this way, how much more will our loving, patient, and perfect Lord do.

The Almighty is at our service to answer us, for He is faithful in keeping His promises. God is not a man, that he should lie; No son of man, to repent; would he say and not? Would I speak, and not confirm it? (Num 23:19). So never give up or be discouraged to prove and see how good the Most High is. Do good to all. God wants us to exercise our faith by being bold as we come into His presence and claim our rights in Christ.

Be sure of this: the Father will honor what He has promised, so trust Him. Perhaps the Lord’s response to your petition will be slow to come, but it will only happen if you are not believing as you should. Spiritual affairs are straight. So be careful! Just a carelessness in faith, a filth in our thoughts, a nap in holiness, that we are no longer in the presence of God. We must follow divine directions and discover the pleasure of living by faith. Our journey on earth will be successful!

Keep the Name of the Lord on your lips continually, and He will hear your cry. God is always near all those who truly call on Him. So raise your voice to Him!
