And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD.  Genesis 12:8

We were called to follow Jesus, and for this reason we must not ignore when He touches our Heart with His convictions.  We are on a journey, so we must never refuse to leave our birthplace as some people do.  What is important is to obey the Holy Spirit!  Behaving in this manner, certainly, we will be blessed along the way.  Believe this and claim it!

Go to where the Lord leads you. When we hear Him, we arrive where He wants us; otherwise, we stray, and then there is no way to have His presence with us.  Obey God, even if this causes you to be despised by someone.  Make sure that it is really the Lord who is moving you, and not your own mind or another person.  The Most High speaks through the Word, and if we are in communion with Him, our hearts will rejoice.

Bethel had a great influence in Abraham’s journey, and later in Jacob’s and the other descendant’s journey as well.  What God does today, no doubt will help you and yours, even after you have embarked on your way.  We cannot chose where God will use us or the people to whom He sends us.  Following divine direction, you have the power that the Father has already given you; but if you do not follow it, you will go on without any heavenly assistance.

Arriving at Bethel, Abraham erected his tent, showing disposition to wait there until he received new directions.  Go with all your heart and might wherever God sends you, because there is something good for you to do there.  The patriarch settled between the house of God (Bethel) and Ai, the royal city of the Canaanites, which meant huge ruins.  Was this a prophecy?

It was not by happenstance that Abraham was called, but by the decision of the Omnipotent, who was based on the patriarch’s response to His orders, long before ordering him to a place which would later be revealed.  So, as was his custom, he built there an altar to the Lord.  When we learn something from Heaven, we must put it in to practice, because, undoubtedly, the Almighty does not direct us without cause.  It is always good to obey God’s orders.

It is not enough to build an altar, and praise the Lord through it; it is important, yes, to fulfill your mission.  After erecting the altar, Abraham called to God. This means that he made a covenant with the Almighty, acknowledging his acceptance of the new revelations.  Likewise, ask the Father for everything you need in resources and power to fulfill everything that He shows.  Be alert, keep watch and carry out the orders from up High.

The result of Abraham´s obedience and wisdom was seen in what happened to him after this decision. He was kept safe and prospered spiritually and materially. With 308 servants born in his house, the patriarch defeated four victorious kings. Halleluiah!

In Christ, with love,

God of the true altar!  What wisdom You gave Abraham!  As he obeyed and followed Your instructions he collected many, many blessings.  Ever since he understood Your will, he was never led astray by the deceptions of the kingdom of darkness, and was then called and known as Your friend.

That we may know and understand Your plan and our calling, living and behaving in a way not to offend or sadden You. We want to make You happy and to rejoice and be glad in You, which is our strength. Help us listen to You so that we may fulfill Your good will.

We must go to where You send us and erect there an altar to You.  That each of our victories be as a covenant that we forge with You.  We then will invoke Your Name. Amen!
