Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, And take away the foreskins of your hearts, You men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Lest My fury come forth like fire, And burn so that no one can quench it, Because of the evil of your doings.”. Jeremiah 4:4

God is holy, and all who wish to do His work must sanctify themselves in order to bear much fruit. This was the message of the Lord given by Jeremiah to the children of Israel, which also concerns us. We must dedicate ourselves totally to the Father, honoring the Covenant that He established with us through the blood of Jesus. If we do not observe this pact, the consequences will be very serious.

Moses knew he had to circumcise his son, but he did not, and he narrowly did not experience the curse (Ex 4: 24-26). We must not ignore divine commandments. After preparing the land of our heart, removing the stones and thorns that can hinder spiritual growth, the Word will find shelter in us and we will be successful. Then, by circumcising our soul, removing the nature of sin from it, we will be united with Christ by faith.

Whoever is accepted into the divine family must obey the Lord’s precepts. The work of our hands must be as pure as God is. The Day of the Most High’s wrath is approaching, and nothing will be covered up. Christians or not, no one will escape from presenting themselves to the One who will pass their works by the unquenchable fire. We do not know when it will be, but let us be prepared, sanctifying ourselves by washing the water, which is the Word (Eph. 5:26).

Jeremiah’s prophecy was heard in Judah and Israel. God’s people had to abandon sin and consecrate themselves to the Lord. Malice, idolatry and other immoralities would give way to the perfect will of the Almighty. We will be totally freed from iniquity if we pay attention to His voice and recognize our position in Him.

In Bethsaida, a blind man was taken to the Master to be healed. Jesus drooled the man’s eyes, laid his hands on him, and asked him if he could see. The man, however, did not see well. He said that everything was distorted – the men looked like trees. Then, the Lord touched him again, and the miracle was completed (Mk 8: 22-26). There is a powerful spiritual truth in this part of the Word.

Blessings from Above are not partial. In fact, the blind man had weakened faith. His blindness was not only physical, but also spiritual. For him to see perfectly, he would have to abandon doubt and take possession of the complete healing offered by Jesus, using his rights as a child of God. Whoever the Lord idealized and is willing to dedicate himself to His work, being an instrument of His glory.

The works of a heart outside the divine will are easily destroyed by the consuming Fire. The Lord expects that all who have called to belong to His Body will be free from any embarrassment to serve Him in spirit and in truth. Don’t be ashamed. There is no condemnation for anyone who is in Christ Jesus. Whoever fulfills the directions of Heaven is considered a faithful servant (Rom 8.1; 2 Tim 2.15).

In Christ, with love,

R. R. Soares

God of Covenant! You chose a people to call Yours and you gave them a physical mark that would set them apart from the rest, but the hearts of the children of Israel were seldom fully dedicated to You. Mercy!

Through Jesus, we have a chance to please You with our living, but we need to keep Your covenant with us. May the flesh that does not glorify You be stripped from our hearts and You can use us without reserve!

Before the righteous Judge, our works will be passed over by the Holy Fire, and everything that is unclean will be destroyed. We want to do works worthy of You! Come and purify us, circumcise our hearts, and we will live Your will completely. Amen!
