In that day they will roar against them like the roaring of the sea. And if one looks to the land, behold, darkness and sorrow; and the light is darkened by the clouds.  Isaiah 5.30

In what he was shown, Isaiah was able to observe the threat that would come upon Judah on the day of the visitation of their iniquity, comparing it to the wild sea. Despite knowing that this was revealed to one of God’s most used men, the people did not amend from their rebellion and fell into the hands of the enemy. Why did they do this? They did not fear the Lord, who had shown them that their procedure was completely different from what it should be. Stay alert and pray!

Those who live as they wish, even though they have accepted Jesus as their Savior, will have days of bitterness and despair, because they do not give Him the lordship of their lives. Now, he who does not serve the Most High with love – having and keeping His commandments – will not be loved by Him (John 14.21,23). Fix yourself now to be approved by your heavenly Father and to be able to do God’s work successfully (2 Timothy 2.15; John 14.12).

The Babylonians symbolize the demons, who go after their prey with much noise, bringing the works of darkness – sickness, disease, misery, marital separation, and other problems. Those who believe in God have the assurance that no evil will visit or torment them, for so says the Lord: No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling (Psalm 91.10). Hunger to seek the commandments, and you will be satisfied to keep them!

The Day of the Lord will be one of anguish for the lost, but of fulfillment for the saved. These will hear their names called, and so will enter and possess the Kingdom prepared for God’s servants – from the foundation of the world. Much regret will be felt by those who live as if Christ is not real and give themselves over to sin. Not only have they not lived as they should, they have missed the chance to cleanse themselves of transgressions to go up with Jesus.

If one has the ability to see the whole Earth – one will see the world plunged into darkness and affliction. What good will be the most powerful weapons produced and stockpiled by nations? What arsenal will work against the One who created everything from nothing? Here is the truth: The Lord will come to reign over all things, and the lost, realizing that there is no light anywhere, will despair, but the saved will rejoice!

The world will be covered by so many clouds that no one will be able to get through them, because the hand of God will prevent any light from shining in the universe. The sun will not shine, and the stars will not twinkle. Everything will cease, and the unsaved will go mad. But the redeemed will be taken up to Heaven by the Lord. This will be a tremendous event! There will be no other like it. Our entrance into the heavenly Kingdom is set!

The light is darkened by the clouds.  Just as it happened in Egypt, when the plague of darkness came – for three days no one stood up from where they were – it will also happen in the glorious return of the King of kings and Lord of lords (Exodus 10.21-23). Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord who was, who is and who will forever be (Philippians 2.9-11).
