30/09/2019 - THE ASSISTANCE TO DAVID

He makes my feet like hinds’ feet, and sets me upon my high places. Psalm 18:33

From the human aspect, it is not possible that a youth, more like a boy than a man, faces off a giant, someone tried and experienced in wars, a true hero to the Philistines, shaming him in public, knocking him down and decapitating him.  This, however, is not only the truth, but David himself never lost any battle.  It would be wonderful if we were victorious in all our battles against the realms of darkness, isn’t it true?

The battles fought by the king of Israel were many and difficult; as are those we must take on and win.  Once we are equipped by the Almighty to do war in His Name, we cannot shame His Kingdom.  David fought physically, and we fight spiritually.  The weapons and arms we receive from the Lord are not carnal, weak and worthless, but powerful in Him.  One day we will answer for what we did or didn’t do in the battles!

Alas, the Word advises that our struggle is not against man, but against the kingdom of darkness (Ephesians 6:12).  Therefore, learn what the weapons of the Lord are, and set out to defeat your enemy.  After all, you represent the Kingdom of Heaven, and the devil has to be put in his place – under your feet.  This is not a rhetorical figure, nor something to decorate a sermon or fool someone.  It happens to be real, and which we will be accounted for on the Day of Judgment.

David was never concerned about the enemy: whether one soldier or an army.  He did not fear them, but faced them off and defeated them.  What have you done with the power given by the Omnipotent? Jesus said: But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth”(Acts 1:8). It is shameful and wrong to be equipped by God and do nothing! Mercy!

Here is the difference between us and the man who had a heart according to God: he used his talents and abilities and would not allow himself to be overtaken by any who desired his death.  No doubt, when David´s adversaries tired of running after him, he would turn back on them with the same agility and destroy them.  Jesse’s son knew that the Lord had anointed him to fight physically.  However, we do not even notice that like him we are prepared for the spiritual battles.

We have not used the power of God.  Many times, instead of advancing during difficult times, we retreat.  What a shame! The Church of the New Covenant is not like that of the Old Testament.  What are we lacking?  Undoubtedly the answer is very small but true: we are actually lacking in faith in the Lord.  Why do we not believe? Because we have lived our faith in Jesus only superficially in order to impress or please others and not God (John 5:44).

If the Church continues to ignore the commandments, in very little or no time, it will be a gathering of the defeated, liars and sinners.  Those who do not prove their love for Jesus do not have His love (John 14:21).  Put an end to your carnal life and look to the examples shown by the Lord; otherwise you will not go up with Him.  Our righteousness has to greatly exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees to enter the Kingdom of God (Matthew 5:20).  What do you say?

In Christ, with Love,

Father! It is so sad, but we have to confess that we are not in the faith that You gave us, because we have not truly loved You. Now we are with our lives at risk and might be lost forever.  We must return to our first love!

You equipped us to fight Your battles and to do Your will in a manner beautiful and pleasing to You.  However, unfortunately, fascination for wealth, cares of life and ambitions and other things have drawn us far from Your hands and removed us from You!

We must turn away from lies, sin and the devil´s offers.  What has overcome us is the lack of love for You, and to seek Your Kingdom and Your righteousness first, so that the battles we wage may be victorious.  Help us!
