12/04/2019 - THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD WORKS

This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. Titus 3:8

As we were recreated in Christ, we were prepared to do the good works which the Scriptures refer to.  To not fulfill our mission is an error, for we will lose the eternal reward.  During His days on Earth, Jesus was used to heal the infirm, deliver the oppressed and to help those in need.  Before returning to Heaven, He said:  “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. (John14:12)

Paul the Apostle wrote to Titus, saying that the Word is faithful.  He spoke of what it will do for us if we decide to fulfill the order of the Master.  To expel demons is no job for the unprepared, but a worthy task that aids the lost and others who suffer.  The reason why some are oppressed and others are not is not for us to know but to deliver them is an order.

I myself would really like it if there were no humans that were possessed by evil spirits, something very sad to see a demon commanding another life, leading that life to take pleasure in causing evil to many people.  If Jesus cast out demons and commanded us to do the same, it is evident that divine will is for the oppressed to be delivered.  This is our mission!

The Word is faithful.  If you truly and fully want to serve God, prepare yourself to be used like Christ was.  Everything that He did was to teach us to carry out the precepts of the Most High.  Nobody wants to arrive at Judgment Day and have to give explanations as to why they did not do what was ordered them to do.  To be guilty of someone’s suffering is a price that no person would like to pay.

Titus needed to affirm the faithfulness of the Word.  As a follower of Christ, I too have to emphasize this, so that the other Christians do no fall for the lie of the tempter, which says that because one is saved there is no longer anything to be worried or concerned about. Salvation is the first step of a mission to serve the Lord well.  We were not saved simply to be freed from the devil, but to roll up our sleeves and deliver the oppressed.

Those who have been converted must apply themselves to doing what is good.  Certainly Jesus did not do the lesser works, leaving the good works so that some famous ones would discover and execute.  He was complete showing us firsthand what must be done. If people are not delivered and healed from their diseases, they will not love the Most High as they should.  Obey God, doing what it is that He commands.

This is the best way of pleasing the Lord.  The laziness or the fear of failure lead many to disobey and not carry out the Savior’s orders, while making up other missions that He never even suggested.  There is no alternative to what God Himself drew up during His days on our planet.  Righteousness and common sense are healthy!

In Christ, with love,

God of the faithful Word! We must not stop seeking Your purpose through the Scriptures.  What You did here, when You came as a man to save us, is what we must do.

That all Christians may respect and revere Your commandments! There is no one who can alter the Sacred Letters, under penalty of suffering eternal loss.  Help us then to discern and understand Your precepts and to execute them.

We want to do that which is profitable for men, because if we do not live up to what You say, who will go out into the world, speaking of Your love, healing the oppressed and giving sinners the opportunity to be saved? Guide us!
