The multitudes that followed Jesus grew each day. Matthew says that people from all origins came to the Master, because besides His teachings being simple and understandable, they were powerful since He used the power of God to heal the sick, deliver the oppressed and lead the people to the presence of the Father. Jesus had as his objective to reach and bring in the lost sheep of the house of Israel, and for this reason He did not waste the authority received from God. What a lesson for us!
Many had come from various regions – Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the Transjordan – seeking God. Therefore, Jesus went up the mountain to deliver the Sermon on the Mount, also known and called as the Constitution of the Kingdom of God. When the Master descended, the multitude that sought and followed Him was so great that it was called the great multitude. Christ declared that they had heard what had been said in the past however He gave true meaning to the divine message.
To learn from Jesus is the secret of wisdom for those who want to be successful. Christ was not worried with the time it would take to deliver His sermon and then use the divine power which had been given Him to heal people. We must never rush ourselves to leave the presence of God; after all, we have to learn to do what is required of us to obtain the result that is expected by the Lord.
As He came down from the mountain, a great multitude gathered around the Master, but that did not cause Him to be influenced by the success. Christ carried out His mission, because he knew that unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required (Luke 12:48). We cannot disregard one life of the thousands that the Lord gives us, because we will have to account for each and for all. Christ had the purpose of training His disciples, in order for them to know how to carry on with the mission when He would no longer be present.
His reward was soon evident because having preached the Good News, God gave Him great multitudes. Those who work in commerce need a great number of clients; those that are in the arts, in sports and other activities of human life need people who accept and like what they do. Thus, they obtain profitable results, they succeed and live with dignity. The preachers and evangelists need great multitudes so that the mission may be carried out in a manner pleasing to the heavenly Father who called them.
The Christian that does not seek to go up the mountain, to learn and teach others, even not being a fulltime preacher, must carry out the divine will. The mount may be in the day to day, in the people that God places next to you, or in your home, your family. Therefore concern yourself in fulfilling the commands of the Lord. Those who obey Him will always be rewarded with that which they most need.
David said: “The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me (2 Samuel 22:21). Do the same and you will see that the Lord acts the same way with those who truly love Him. The secret of success is to follow the biblical examples. Don’t waste your time using human formulas. God is faithful to those who are faithful. Those who honor Him will be honored by His actions.

Lord, Rewarder of the faithful! Why not obey what You command us in all places: to preach and to live the Gospel? Your Kingdom is eternal, as well as Your mercies. Therefore we place ourselves under Your direction to be successful.
We cannot let the enemy win us with temptations because what he did with Adam and Ever he too will do with those who live in disaccord with Your word. We have no interest in the offers of darkness, but only in Yours. Therefore we come before You to do what is good.
Remain with us at all times, mainly when the evil adversary comes near us to tempt us, to draw us away from Your presence and make us use human strategies. We want only to obey and to love You. We plea for the directions from Your Holy Spirit!
