Yet now, if You will forgive their sin—but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written. Exodus 32:32

The Hebrews went too far when they asked Aaron to forge gods for them, since they had not heard news about Moses. They did not understand that the main person in that story was the Lord, and not His servant. Every time that there is a rupture in ministry, it shows that those who ruptured with others were caring about their own interests. Whoever follows the rebel one also rises against wisdom. The troublemaker despises He who took him out of captivity!

The children of Israel did not care about what happened to that man of God. They did not value he who had been used to take them out of Egypt. They should trust that the Lord was strong and wise enough to keep His servant safe. They should not have acted in that way, inclining themselves to idolatry. Now, those who have the devil as their guide will fall with him in the eternal pit of fire and sulfur.

Their mistake was enormous. Due to an insane attitude, they provoked the divine wrath. Those weak heirs of the promises guided their weak followers to behave as traitors, thus, hurting the heart of the All-Powerful. As a result of such a disastrous evil, they saw around three thousand of them being killed because of their shameful sin. Be careful: if you hurt the Lord’s holiness you will have a just punishment.

God decided to destroy the entire camp of the Hebrews and start a new generation through Moses, who immediately refused the divine proposal. He proved that his renounce was enormous and so he prevailed before the Most High. If he had thought about himself, he would have shown that he did not have the qualifications of a servant and would also lose a lot. But whoever leaves anything for the love of the Gospel will receive even a hundred times more.

Yet now, if You will forgive their sin.  Moses made a strong prayer for his countrymen, the kind of prayer that most pleases the Most High, for He desires that all humanity makes peace with Him. When a man is in peace with God, all things go well with him. Whoever is delivered becomes free from sin because he received the divine favor. Thus, the enemy cannot oppress this life any longer. Therefore, the first blessing is to seek reconciliation with the Lord.

For Moses, forgiveness was fundamental. That leader even asked the Almighty for his name to be blotted from the book of the Lord if He did not forgive His transgressors. Would it be worth for God to have a plan for the salvation of all humanity if He had to kill the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? When Moses finished praying, God told him that He would attend his request and warned that the names of the disobedient would be blotted from the book.

Moses understood that his name was already written in the holy book, but his love for Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was greater than the glory of starting a new generation through him. Therefore, he would rather be blotted from this glory, if the promise made to his ancestors was not to be fulfilled.

In Christ, with love,

Father! It was beautiful to see Your reaction after Moses’ request. Therefore, the innocent Israelites were not decimated with those who fell in that temptation. Your love for everyone is praiseworthy. Thus, everyone loves You and serves You with love.

We must love the cause of the Gospel. After all, we have been saved because Jesus paid a high price. Now, the best way to be grateful is to have Your commandments and keep them. By doing so, millions of people will have their lives changed.

May the reader never lack greatness of spirit! Thus, he will not think about his own cause, but he will care for Your work. Therefore, help us to live in such a way that You are magnified. May the lost never stop being reached. Amen!
