But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want. Luke 15.14

Canaan was a region rich enough to be called “a land flowing with milk and honey”. It symbolized the coming Kingdom of God. Therefore, we can say that we are in the Kingdom of plenty. Moses described it as follows: a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper (Deuteronomy 8:9). The Christian must claim his own supply.

In view of what we are seeing, we can say that it is incorrect to accept any fault. See what Paul said about the believer: And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Diligently seek confirmation of this word, trying to find other promises in the Bible that will help you get right with the Lord. Without a doubt, He will prosper you.

The spiritually foolish young man thought he was great, he went from party to party, and his friends made him believe he was amazing. This was because he sponsored the pleasure of that group. However, when resources began to dwindle, the young man saw that there was no loyalty in their friendship. Each one started to make excuses and refuse his invitations. The young man came to his senses as he saw his problems worsening. Stay alert and pray!

The Word warns that riches do not last forever, but God’s friendship will never be cut off, because there is faithfulness in Him. What good did it do to sponsor the parties and receive hugs and praise, if everyone ran away in misfortune? He lacked a friend, as the Bible states: A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).

Two problems arose for someone who had spent everything he had brought from his father’s house: there was no job and nothing to eat. His survival was in danger because of the famine that occurred in the faraway land. Just like him, there are some who are facing serious problems and regretting having left the house of God, realizing that they have not done a good thing. In the world there are afflictions, but if you seek the Father, He will supply your needs in Christ. Never run away from the Lord!

Everything deteriorates in the world, health is usually also wasted in parties and drunkenness, in short, in sin. Many people have lived in promiscuity until the time that, in a blood test, they discovered a sexually transmitted disease. Then, “their world fell apart”. The Bible warns us:  Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap (Galatians 6:7).

Don’t spend it all, save your few resources and your morale, for tomorrow is uncertain. In plenty, friends come to us, but in scarcity they turn their backs on us. The Scriptures say: Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5).

In Christ, with love,

Lord, our Contentment! We are fulfilled knowing that we have You with us. So we won't worry about anything, because tomorrow will take care of itself. Let the difficulties come! Being in You, we will prove that You take care of us!

We need not give way to greed or any demon that oppresses unbelievers. We have to overcome everything to show that it is possible to overturn any captivity and free those who are trapped in the various oppressions of evil!

We are grateful that You have declared that You will not leave us. One day, when Jesus comes in the clouds to take us, we will leave this evil world and enter Your Kingdom. We thank you for Jesus' redemptive work on behalf of mankind!
