Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the hill that is east of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the people of Ammon. 1 Kings 11:7

The devil is the king of folly, and those who allow themselves to be led by him – simply cannot resist his wicked objectives. The Scriptures declare: Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? (Romans 6:16). It doesn’t matter how long you have been God’s servant; if you change your position, the enemy will use you in vile ways.

All who looked from Jerusalem at a certain mountain could not believe what their eyes saw. The man to whom the Lord had given wisdom like no other – built a high place to Chemosh in the city of the great king. This makes us tremble. Now, if we turn away from the Lord, our future is bleak. When you are tempted, turn to the Most High and ask Him for protection. Don’t let Satan deceive you. Be vigilant!

This demon called Chemosh, who was never a god, demanded that human sacrifices be made to appease his anger. From time to time, we hear of some place where the father of lies is worshiped, in which a human being was sacrificed to him. There are also situations where a place of worship to the strange gods is “baptized” with the body of a child. The one behind this insane attitude is the same thief who came to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10).

Those deluded by the accuser do not know what they are capable of. The only way out is to turn to Jesus and confess their sins. This does not only happen with those who go to places where spirits are invoked – a practice forbidden by the Lord, but also with those who have sinned and have not repented. It is sad to know that a person walks towards the Judgment Seat of Christ without showing repentance. They will be condemned!

That abominable building, a real challenge to God, was made by the king of Israel, who was the most perfect in wisdom and had the courage to erect it in the city of the great king. His sexual sins led him to commit another bigger and more heinous mistake. Why? There is no answer to this question. Solomon sealed the fate of the house of David, eternally. From that moment on, the kingdom of the holy people would be divided in two. Such a price is paid for the failures of a bad ruler! Mercy!

Moab and Ammon were two peoples that would not exist by normal means. However, after the destruction of Sodom and the other regions through the fire and brimstone that fell from heaven, Lot’s daughters, seeing that their mother had been killed, decided to impregnate from their father, practicing an incest, so that their genitor’s seed would not come to an end there. Now, he could have married again. However, they got him drunk with wine. Thus, two boys were born whose offspring gave birth to these peoples (Genesis 19:30-38).

It was not only Solomon who tried to please Chemosh and Molech, and the other gods of his wives. Many parents offer their unwanted offspring to this god, through abortion. It is sad to see that the demons that encouraged infanticide in the past still promote the death of unborn children. No matter what many people say: to abort is to kill!

In Christ, with love,

God of good conduct! Whoever fears You lives according to Your Word and does not bow to the devil or his demons. We want to learn more about our rights and Your will. Then, we will give You true praise!

It is not possible to live far from Your love. The farther we are from You, the closer we are to suffering. We have to love You in a wonderful way, as Your Son did, coming into the world to save us!

We need to be aware of the sad examples. If we forsake Your path, we will not go far. Now, by obeying Your directions, we will be sustained, strengthened, and kept by Your faithfulness. Thank You for being with us when the tempter draws near. Amen!
