07/11/2019 - THE SAMARITAN UNDERSTOOD THE DIVINE PURPOSE

Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.  John 4:9

He who is not yet saved is unable to answer to God, so he must undergo discipleship in order to become useful in the Lord´s hands. The natural man only thinks about the things of the world, he is full of disappointments, prejudices and sadness, and suffers from the evils caused by the attitudes of humanity against his equals.

God´s children must do the work as Jesus did. So, to be successful in the art of serving God properly, they must learn from those who have been in “training” the longest, for such have overcome many temptations sent by the devil to weaken them in the faith. This person can give lessons to the young ones; thus, they will be spared from many sufferings. Do not forget: the gate is narrow and the way is difficult, but it leads to life (Matthew 7:14). With God, we will never err.

The great learning comes from Jesus, who calls on those who labor and are heavy laden to come to Him and learn from Him, for He is gentle and lowly in heart (Matthew 11:29). His teachings must be received with joy, though they meet our desires. Being Omniscient and loving us, the Lord sees what has been troubling us and makes us see the cause of evil.

So remove from your life all the bad things that God shows. If you want to have long, good days, obey the Word. The Lord is not a “spoiler” but He “spoils” what keeps us from having true pleasure. Man is limited in everything, especially if he is under the influence of a passion. In this case, he cannot recognize his mistakes. But the Most High is good all the time!

The woman did not understand the approach of the Master and soon cited the prejudice of the Jews towards the Samaritans, who came from a mixture of the people who remained in Israel, when Shalmaneser, the king of Assyria, invaded the northern kingdom and took to His kingdom the best people among the Israelites, distributing them in various cities (2 Kings 18). In their place, he led people from elsewhere, and this mixture soon happened.

The Jew named Jesus was different from the others; indeed, He began with Abraham a new race that should love the Most High over all things; but as time went by, the descendants became religious and got sidetracked from the Lord´s purpose. The same thing has happened to many born again, because instead of loving God, they come together to protect their evil purposes. That is so sad!

Christ did not want her water, but rather give her a drink of the true Water that truly quenches our thirst. Thus she would be a fountain of water welling to eternal life. At the end of the meeting, she understood God’s purpose and started to evangelize.
