Now David assembled at Jerusalem all the leaders of Israel: the officers of the tribes and the captains of the divisions who served the king, the captains over thousands and captains over hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possessions of the king and of his sons, with the officials, the valiant men, and all the mighty men of valor. 1 Chronicles 28:1

When a matter is of the utmost spiritual importance, the leader has to reveal the Lord’s guidance, knowing that one day – he will give an account of what he has said or failed to convey to God’s people. Whoever is in leadership should remember that everything was created by the Most High for a purpose, and he was not put there to act irresponsibly, but as a good steward of the Almighty in order to manage the house with zeal.

King David was preparing to build the temple of the Lord, but a direction came from God’s heart – that he had to convey to everyone. With that, the devil would not use anyone with false news to be spread among the people. Truth must prevail among good people, and lies must be unmasked in the twinkling of an eye.

In the case of an essential matter, people should hear from the person who has received such a revelation. If the truth is not told, an environment is created for rumors – and that is bad. Christians need to live according to the Bible, the most updated Book in the world. That way, when some false news appears, they will have support to silence it, before it spreads like a plague. Be a servant of the Truth, not a false Christian (John 17:17).

The Kingdom of God had been at peace since David had assumed the throne. Since he knew the Almighty and lived in His presence with fear and trembling, there was not one kingdom that oppressed the Israelites. The king was the right person to put an end to speculation. Despite his advanced age at that time, he had a sound mind and brilliant thoughts. In the Bible, this blessing is promised to all (Proverbs 19:20).

The Church of Christ must also live triumphantly over the problems and struggles imposed by Satan and his demons, who try to afflict those who do not follow the Word´s guidance (Romans 8:37; James 1:12). When the pastor is, in fact, in God´s presence, the people become wise, the lost are converted and are united to the divine family. This way, the manifestations of the Father’s love become normal in the midst of those who believe and carry out the teachings of the Bible: wonders, prodigies and signs.

King David was used mightily, to the point that Israel was never tributary of any country; on the contrary, various nations asked for peace and started paying tribute to the Israelites. Change in a country occurs when the Church preaches the Word and its inhabitants believe and obey it. If people learn only the doctrines of man, there will be no change – and all sorts of oppressions will arise.

The end of the verse under study declares, that every valiant man heeded the king’s summons – and that was a very good thing – because everyone was able to take up arms and defend God’s servants from their opponents.

In Christ, with love,

Lord of all wisdom! You chose a shepherd boy, the youngest son of Jesse, who understood practically little about life in society - but being prepared and guided by Your hand, he became the most powerful king of the world in those days.

The fellowship he held at Your feet made him reliable and the most experienced in spiritual matters, as well as in the various day-to-day issues of his country. Thus, his fame spread - and he was respected.

Father, raise up people for the ministry of the Word, wise and consecrated people who have nothing to be ashamed of and wield well the sword of the Spirit, Your Word. Let leaders who fear You - rule the nations! Then the Gospel will be preached to all.
