In the Bible, there are warnings to those who make, buy, sell or rent idols or some other object that robs the worship of the Lord (Exodus 20.4-6). God made such a prohibition, because what lies behind this kind of worship leads the idolater to the devil. This was the problem in Ur of the Chaldeans, the land where Abraham lived and where he sought and found the Lord. Thus, Abraham broke away from the bonds of idolatry and sorcery. Hallelujah!
Why does man think it’s better to put his faith in a piece of art, or no art, that someone claims to have the virtue to heal or help, if only the Lord is able to solve the problems? Those who seek this kind of “help”, thinking they are getting closer to God, are actually distancing themselves from Him. Someone may suggest that the Most High does not want competition, as if He gains something from the blessing requested. Idolatry makes things more difficult, it solves nothing.
The person who needs spiritual help should not seek mystical sources, because the evil one commands any unbiblical ritual (Deuteronomy 18.9-14). Now, knowing the wickedness of having and worshipping idols, the Lord exhorts us to flee from them, finding in Him the solution to our dilemmas. Therefore, never give in to Satan’s lies. The enemy will never help you for he is the destroyer. Where there is idolatry, the adversary is present to do evil (1 Corinthians 10.19-22).
Anyone who has objects of sorcery or idolatry, even if they have received them as a gift and later forgot about them, needs to put an end to them soon, for they only cause harm. Surely, the person has felt the negative reflexes produced by such garbage. In many places I have seen many people get rid of various misfortunes. If you find such things, get rid of them. When the cause is undone, the evil has nowhere to lean on and soon departs.
The Scriptures quote a curse that accompanies those who defy the Lord in this regard. After the revenge of Jacob’s sons for the abuse suffered by Dinah, their sister, the Most High said to the patriarch: Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there; and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.” And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments. (Genesis 35.1,2).
Until then, there were idols among them, which were of no value. It was proved why they were not protected on the occasion of the dishonor committed by the son of Shechem. There are people who will only see the danger after the house has fallen down. God speaks clearly: Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; eyes they have, but they do not see; they have ears, but they do not hear; noses they have, but they do not smell; they have hands, but they do not handle; feet they have, but they do not walk; nor do they mutter through their throat (Psalm 115.4-7).
Jacob saw the reason why his family was disrespected in the case of Dinah, abused by the son of the greatest man in the land. Do not create idols in your heart, considering yourself a man of God. The heavenly Father is responsible for the blessings given to you according to divine mercy and love. Praise the Lord for His deeds and do not compromise yourself with darkness by possessing and worshipping what has no virtue. This only serves as a magnet to attract the forces of the evil kingdom. Pray!
In Christ, with love,

Lord, Redeemer of our soul! We must not possess even an image that is said to remind us of Jesus, our Savior. In the Ten Commandments, You forbade us to do so. We want to obey You in faith and love!
The Bible tells us to look at Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith, and never at some image made of clay, plaster, wood or any other material, attributed to Jesus. You knew the evil power these things have, so we look to Your Word!
Why allow our senses to be paralyzed, just like the representations that You forbid to be bought or sold? We need to remember Jesus on the stormy sea, as the Scriptures relate. We will never look at an abominable idol, but only to You!
